Portable Fridge

I phone up HO-JO Maingate West yesterday, and they told me that there were no fridges in any of the rooms. However, we could rent one from them for $5/day.
Seeing that this would cost us around $70 for the fortnight, it would probably be more cost-effective to simply buy a small, portable fridge and then leave it there.
Has anyone seen any cheap, portable fridges for sale in the area?
Steve.

We bought a small fridge (I wouldn't call it portable) in Walmart. Cost about $75 plus tax. It was the exact same model that Disney hotels rent you for $10 a day. As we we stayed on-site for 14 days it was cheaper to buy one (and leave it in the room) than it was to rent. Crazy!

If you only need a fridge for drinks, then I'd opt for Walmart and buy a cooler. You can get them in different sizes and are around the $5 mark. Hubby and I bought one on our last trip and it was wonderful. We filled it daily with ice from the ice machine, put our drinks in and voila, instant cold drinks! We plan on doing the same when we go back. Hope this helps.

We wanted it mainly for storing milk, so a cooler might be the answer. Thanks.
We've been going 'self'catering' since 1986, so it's strange this time to be without any 'everyday' kitchen equipment
The hotel tells me that they will supply a kettle for $20, refunded when we check-out. - So there'll be no problem making tea or coffee in the room.

When staying in hotels we've gone down the polystyrene "cooler" route a couple of times. Filling it up with ice each morning did a more than adiquate job for keeping beer, soft drinks and milk cool and cost less than $10.

How is the ice obtained? - Are there ice-dispensers available in most hotels? ...and is it free to take, or is there any charge for it?
Steve.

There's normally ice freely available in hotels - in the Disney hotels I've stayed in there was an ice machine on each floor.

Sounds good. - I expect that the Ho-Jo hotels are the same.
We remember seeing those polystyrene coolers in Walmart last year, so we'll probably pick one up on the first day.
