Portable fans?

I'm definitely going to be purchasing some battery operated fans for our Disney trip. I'd rather not get those cheap ones at the dollar store. There's two kinds of coolers that seem to have good reviews on amazon:

Travelon 3-Speed Folding Fan for $9.57

Handy Cooler Evaporative Cooler for $39.99

The evaporative cooler looks pretty nifty. The downsides seem to be that the fan is slower on battery power, it eats up batteries quickly, and the sponge dries out in about an hour under hot conditions.

Has anyone tried either of these products?

BTW, I bought one of those water bottle mister fans in Animal Kingdom many year back and it was great. It's just a pain to carry around.

I've had really good luck with these little mini-fans from Coleman. You can buy them in the camping section at Target for $3!! They look like the cheapo dollar store mini-fans, but they're really powerful! Very compact and easy to slip in a bag or fanny pack.

I had one of these three trips ago, and one of the blades finally broke off (although the fan still worked!). Couldn't remember where I had bought it. Finally found them at Target - I highly recommend them!

That's funny. The reviews on Amazon aren't too good for the Coleman fan. I figured it would be better since they're a camping supply company. BTW, I found these towels that look pretty interesting:

Gonna order one and try it out one hot day!

Regardless of the reviews, I think they're much better (and more powerful!) than the dollar store mini fans with the foam blades. Can't beat the $3 price, either!

Something like this is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks! :thumbsup2 They look very compact, are they? My sis gets overheated very easily, and we're going in August...we will definitely need these .

I too took the mini misting fans with us last April. They were AMAZING!! I found ours at WalMart in the camping section. Not sure of the brand name. My (then) 5yr old near melted down in line more then once from the heat. We would whip out his misting fan and BAM!pixiedust: He was a happy boy. All our kids loved them for that matter. Super handy to have and the mini ones fit beautifully in their little fanny packs. And the battery life was perfect too.:cool2:

They are very compact and can easily fit in a pocket...I can't even tell you how useful they were last August.

Love the chili pads! Used mine last year at Disney and it really helped! By the way, if the pad is too big you can cut them to the size you prefer and they still work. :thumbsup2

They are compact - about 4" long. They take two AA batteries. Love mine!

These work great! We pretty much live at the ball park during the summer and we use these frog togs every year. You just run them under water warm or cold and they are great! Keep you cool for sure! We have one packed for everyone on our Disney trip next month.

The chilly pads are awesome!!! I used them last August with my granddaughter..they stayed cool in the stroller for her..I wet one and had her sit on it while the other one we shared for our face..while she was sitting I would use the one around my neck, granite, it wasn't sylish but, who cares...it was hot!!! good luck...
