We'll be driving to Disney World and our two 4-year old portable DVDs are now kaput. I was considering purchasing a 2 screen model, since we have 3 children. We could have one screen in the back bench seat of our minivan and one in front of the third child in one of the bucket seats. However, I'm thinking now that maybe 2 regular units might be better. The two older kids can be watching one movie while the younger watches another and if they all want to watch the same one, we can put them all the back bench for it. Does anyone have an opinion of which way may work better? I feel like I'm missing something. Thanks!

We have had both types. Last time I got the dual screen, thinking like you. It was a pain, a cord connects the two screens so was always in the way of general kid-movements. You have to watch the same thing on both screens (at least on ours). The kids like seperate ones better, less cords hanging around, they can watch seperate things, or share between two of them so all three can watch stuff. We are now using the dual screen as a single screen and a seperate portable one. I think the dual screen one was a waste of money, cheaper to get a single portable one (or two.)

Thanks, my thinking was going in that direction also. I hadn't considered the cords, so thanks for giving me that input. Do you have a brand recommendation?

I just bought the cheapest sale one at the time. I am not sure that "Brands" are that important for these. Of course, I am always a sale girl, not brand loyal except to a few things (like it has to be Heinz ketchup).

I'd go with separate ones, too. With dual screens, if the mechanism that reads the DVD goes bad, you lose both screens and have no DVD player at all. More importantly, it's much easier to settle disputes on what to watch if there are two choices.

Thanks guys. I think Wal mart sells an Audiovox(?) for like $80 or $90 which I'm sure would suit our purposes. Now if only I can figure out the darn straps to hang the things up! I swear you need a Masters in Physics to make them work!:rotfl2:
