Just got back from Florida with my 3 yod. It was a wonderful trip. Thanks in part to a Portable DVD player that was bought about a year ago. Up until now we never really used it.
On the trip down to Florida from Virginia, we stopped almost half way in Santee SC. A nice hotel called Clarks.
It took us 5 hours that day . The DVD Player kept her entertained almost the whole trip. I gave it to her and she pushed the buttons and watched Little Mermaid and Dora. It was wonderful. Then It "broke" So for the second day of the trip going down, it didn't work until Daytona Beach. There I went to a Walmart and got a cleaner and got it back working. When the DVD player wasn't working atleast she took a nap.
Comming back was a 12 hour trip. We did stop almost every hour or two. She "broke" the player by pulling the power ribbon off. Luckily it went back on, and Little Mermaid had her entertained again.
My suggestion and experience to anybody who drives any long distance is DVD's.
It really did help make the car ride so much less stressful.

Hello fellow Virginian :wave2: . We borrowed a small tv/vcr combo in 2003 when we drove down and it was a lifesaver. I wished we had one in our van at that time, but we made due with the tv. Now they have come out with all these small and compact dvd players. Great invention. We ended up having to buy a (new to us) van in 2004. It was a nice suprise to find out that it had a vcr/tv in it. It had never even been used. Our used van was a rental before and must have only been rented by businessmen. We had to pull off the plastic off of it to use it for the first time. We use it all the time even locally. Dont know what we will do when we have to trade again. Hope and pray that the new vehcile would have one too I guess.
