what portable iPhone chargers do you recommend?
I don't want my battery to die in the middle of the day :(

We use Urge Basics. You can find plenty of good ones with a lot of charges for under $15. No need to spend a lot of money.

Unless you're constantly on the web and taking a ton of photos/videos, your iPhone should be fine (if it's a 6) for the day. Takes about 1800mah to charge the iPhone 6 to 100% from dead (2800mah for 6+). You can buy the small lipstick size ones that can provide one charge or almost a full charge depending on the phone you have. I like to spend a couple more dollars and get one around the size of my phone or a deck of cards that has about 10,000mah so I can get a few charges out of it.

We use the Jackery brand bought on Amazon. We have some that hold three charges that we can pass around and also the smaller 1 charge. They are all easy to carry in a backsack or purse. We got one initially for our trip when FP+ first started and it definitely came in handy, and they are now used daily, for the kids to take on car trips, sleepovers, soccer tournaments, etc. We also bring a multi charger along to plug in at nt. to charge the phones and chargers for the next day. Ours has two USB spots and two plugs, which helps, as some rooms don't have many plugs or ones that are convenient.

We have anker brand portable chargers. The bigger one which can charge 2 phones at once and has many charges; we also have the smaller one for the kids. We have 6 of them and they work great.

In case you didn't see the announcement from Disney you can now buy a Fuel Rod charger at WDW. When it runs out you simply return it to a Fuel Rod location in the park and get a new fully recharged one (you can recharge it from an electrical outlet as well). And you get to keep it after your trip and can use it again for subsequent visits.

You can actually pre-purchase these for $5.00 less on the Fuel Rod website. These are significantly underpowered compared to other brands. We are looking at the ones on Amazon for a significantly lower price for more power.

Just got the Anker 13000mah card-deck size, with two ports. It lets me run the location tracker app on my phone, which uploads GPS data to my camera - a major battery hog.

We just use the stick chargers that cost about $9 at a store like Best Buy. They work fine and are lightweight.

I rarely need to use it since I tend to save my battery by switching to airplane mode whenever I don't need the wifi or data service. It takes a second to turn it on or off and really does a good job of saving the battery.

Another vote for the Jackery. I can't remember the model I have, it's not a lipstick one but the next size up. I think its called the bar. It charged an iphone and ipad with charge leftover no problem.

Ditto to all of the above.

We were quite surprised at how little we actually needed the charger and that's after many photos, quick videos, texting, face timing the poor folks we left at home, etc. I'm glad we didn't put out big bucks for a charger. Would not have been worth it for us.

I'm looking at the ones that Monoprice sells. Lower cost than Amazon and they good customer service

We found that with all the concrete and steel inside the attractions, it really ran the batteries of our cell phones down quickly. Combined with using WiFi or Data for MDE access drained my wife's new battery very quickly. With our phones, switching to airplane mode isn't an option, since it shuts down everything, even the ability to make and receive a call.

We usually don't receive any calls when we are on a ride. ;) But it is true that you won't receive calls or texts in airplane mode. That is why I turn mine off and on a lot. If I was expecting a call or text, which is important when traveling with family members, then I leave it on. But otherwise I keep if off for periods of time when I don't expect or want to receive messages.

I prefer a charging case to the portable chargers, but my phone is usually in a camera bag at Disney, so the extra bulk on the phone doesn't bother me. Also, if you're not using the low power mode when your battery gets below 80%, you should. It does help preserve the battery with essentially no loss of performance.

For an iPhone..... I recommend something rated 4000mah or higher for a few charges on the day. 10,000mah or higher if you want have a tablet. Or you want a few charges when you forget the recharge the external battery overnight (especially on holidays).

Don't be a wall hugger....

how long does the charger take to recharge iPhone 5 or galaxyS? thinking of getting the Jackery 6000mah
