Portable Brita Filter Bottles?

I posted earlier about seeing them at Wal-Mart with the faucet filters, etc. Yesterday I broke down and bought two- $ 6.97 each. Now that's one more thing that's off my list before Sept. Oh, also bought four of the clear rain ponchos- $ .87 each. Now that's a bargain!! :teeth:

:bounce:

Hi Relridge - I bought those ponchos, too. For $.87 you can't beat it. I guess I'm going to have to break down and get the water bottles, too.

According to other posts for ordering them on Amazon.com....you would have to order at least 5 to get the free shipping. I'm only a family of 4. I'm sure I could find something else to buy. hahaha

TTFN,
Maria

Probably a silly question, but here it goes: I bought 2 of the Brita water bottles and filters. Problem is, I cannot find a water bottle holder that will hold the Brita ( it's too tall for the holders I have found so far ).
Did not find any such item with the Brita bottles. I know they can fit in a backback, but I am hoping to be able to find a bottle holder that either goes around your waist or somehow attaches to your belt. I prefer an insulated one if possible.
Anyone have any ideas ???
Thanks in advance !!

I carried mine with a bottle holder lanyard last week (not insulated) and just added ice every now and again.

Used my Walmart Squeeze Breeze a lot too.

I just ordered one online for $ 3.49 at Linens and Things. I had gotten a coupon in the mail for $10.00 off any $10.00 or more purchase at Linens and Things, so I bought that and a few other small things and my total with shipping was just over 6 bucks.

WOW that's cheap! I just checked their site and even with shipping it's still a great deal! My search is done! Thanks for posting this!

I will preface this w/ I hate the little buggers but we got at Kohl's for half price so I wasn't too upset.
The are very poorly insulated (OK not insulated at all). This caused our bottles to sweat over everything. I also did not like to have to suck so hard to get out the water. When I am really thirsty I want the water to come out freely and not have to pull out my tonsils to get (OK, slight exageration).
I think I may have solved part of my problem by buying some sport bottles at Kohl's that had an insulated cover and straps. I am going to try that on our Oct. trip. Fits perfectly.

The Brita bottles SUCK big time. Pardon my language, I'm just trying to be punny. Actually, I agree they do not suck so easily! :) But what do you do if you want good (non-Disney) water? Do you carry a Brita and squeeze it into another bottle that's insulated?

And bottle straps... do they bang around as you walk? I saw a belt with a bottle holder for $25 at an outdoor/hiking/camping type store. Does anyone use one of these? :(

I e-mailed Brita on this, but perhaps my Disney Experts might know the answer. How big is the bottle and how much liquid does it hold? Can you mix sweetened kool-aid or lemonade in the bottle? Will this hurt the filter? Does everyone have trouble drinking from it? Or is it like any other sports bottle where it is better to squeeze than to try and suck a drink?

Thanks:p

The bottle with the cap screwed on is about 9 3/4 inches high and 2 1/2 inches across. pi x r^2 gives the area of the base, but I've forgotten the formula for the volume of a cylinder. The bottle is slightly tapered at the bottom and has a 1 inch groove around it, so it's not a true cylinder anyway.

I filled it to the brim with exactly 24 ounces of water. The instructions say to fill it to 1 inch below the rim. So it holds 22 ounces by my measurements.

I've no idea about Kool-Aid and such. Drinking from it is really no trouble at all.

I just need to decide on a carrying device. :)

Thanks to all who posted about where to find these bottles in Walmart. I can't tell you how many times I wandered all around our Walmart looking for these things, and today I breezed back to the hardware department and there they were, with a huge display of other Brita stuff! Thanks again!!

 DARN!!

I just got an e-mail from Linens and Things cancelling my order for 5 Brita bottles! They're out of stock!!! Shoot! I thought I could cross this off of my "To Do List" for the trip! Nothing is ever simple, is it? Back to square one, I guess. I'm off to check some stores tonight!

I think I'm confused (Remember, I'm an old country boy). Let's see now, pi r2 x 1" bottom ring= too big for holder. I thought pie was round!

P.S. My wife will shoot me if I paid $ 6.97 each for something that will not fit in her fancy bottle holder on her brand new fanny pack.

But when she shoots you the holes will be so small!

If her pack has the holder I've seen ($25) - I haven't tested it yet. Get a 24-25 oz "sport-bottle" of water at any store for about $1.09 and see if it fits. The Brita may be just slightly bigger.

You're right, pies are round, old country boy. So are the bottles. If the bottle fits, then go an' git! :)

Edit: momto2, any word back from Brita regarding Kool-Aid or lemonade?

2nd edit: reldridge, the 1 inch groove is around the upper middle part of the bottle. It's for handling ease or to attach a strap of some kind for carrying, I guess.

:) :) GOT 'EM!:) :)

At last!!

I found them with other Brita items in the small appliance/cooking utensil aisle of Shop Rite. Paid $6.39 on sale (reg. $7.99)

Later, I also saw them in Boscov's dept. store, upstairs in housewares, also with the other Brita items. They were $7.99 there.

I posted this earlier in the week but I think it got lost somewhere along the way...

I found Brita water bottles on Clearance at Meijer's this week (I think they are national?) Anyway, they were in the hardware dept. down the plumbing aisle next to, once again, the toilet seats. They were also on the end of the aisle to catch your eye. They are cute and had the American flag on them. They were on sale for $3.40. Which I believe was half off.

I caught your post and $3.40 is a GREAT price but I've never even heard of Meijer's. I've been looking at different stores to see if anyone around here had them on clearance, ended up settling for just a "sale" price.
