Port vs Starboard

Is one side more preferred than the other for a veranda? I was thinking starboard would be best because port has the smoking sections? Does any smoke smell carryover to the verandas? I know there's not smoking on verandas, just concerned about it coming from other areas.

If you're on a cruise that visits Castaway Cay, the captain usually backs the ship into port, which gives the starboard side the best view of the island. But occasionally the captain pulls in forward, depending on what maintenance they have planned.

We liked the port side view of Castaway Cay. It's the less-developed side of the island.

As for port side,fam and I always take same room, same deck, same side. Never experienced smoke or smoke smell.

I did once read a complaint by a poster who was bothered by smoke on his forward port side verandah on the Wonder, fyi.
