Port testing changing to antigen-3/26

Sure, but the antigen tests don't pick up as many cases as the PCR tests. That might not matter if Disney actually switches to antigen tests, as expected.

I understand. I'm only suggesting that for people who find the whole process too stressful to book, to test using the same type that would be used at the port, might save someone the stress of packing for a whole family only to be sent away at the port.
I tested before packing and again before flying, thinking "why bother with either of these tasks if one of us tests positive?"

I can respect that. Our kids are grown so travel is less complicated for us. We went to FL twice since the pandemic and as hotel and car rental prices soar, to the point of insane price-gouging, cruising even with DCL prices, is now a bargain in comparison.

i agree. We’ve been driving to florida since they reopened. With rental car and unreliable air travel, it’s been the better option. 15 hours on a good day. My jetblue points keep growing, so I’ve been using those for the kids to fly down. Our grandkids are finally sailing with us next month and I’m really excited to get them back on the ship. The girls are 17 & 14 and miss cruising so much (mom & dad too).

I think if we had no kids or they were grown it would be different. But I have an almost 4 yo that still sticks everything in his mouth. It is just easier to plan trips to not have to worry about testing positive.

Your kids are young with many years of cruising ahead of them I would wait it out if you don’t want to vaccinate, test and all of that. I honestly don’t think it will be much longer before things return to normal.

I don't think so either, we are having a good time with what we are doing, and do look forward to cruising again when the time is right.

That sounds more stressful to me. I’d rather just not stress over it and enjoy my per cruise vacation. whatever happens happens. You can always reschedule the cruise.

To each his own , It’s all a matter of preference. Some like to “plan “ more than others. It’s still all up in the air until you get the clear to board , but if we test positive the day before I can come up with another plan (within 24 hours without losing money for cancelling backup plans last minute ).

You can still have a plan without testing every day. Since the tests aren't very accurate I would still want to test at the port anyway.

can someone explain to me what this means?
i mean does this have any meaning to me in terms of is there anything different i have to do or not do before the cruise?
I'm asking as we haven't cruised since 2019, so i'm not at all familiar with the testing process.

If you are cruising out of Port Canaveral, you will need to take an antigen test before boarding. DCL provides this, no cost.
if you are cruising out of a different port, DCL is still giving PCR tests, again no cost to you. Those ports are expected to switch to antigen tests in the near future.
You will need to create a SafePassage account for each adult, and upload your vaccination proof for every guest age 5+. You do this 15 days prior to sailing. If anyone in your party is <5, they need a PCR test done pre-arrival between 3 days and up to 24 hours prior; that negative test must be uploaded to SafePassage for any little ones.

I am from Germany and I had no issues uploading and then accepting my yellow WHO book page to safe travels and I believe I also uploaded the EU Germny pdf showing vaccination with QR code and details.

we're in israel, so we have something online from the ministry of health with the pfizer batch number i think....
i haven't looked at it, but everyone has that information connected to their ID number in the health ministry system.
and it's in english for use overseas, so it shouldn't be an issue, i hope

Posted this on another thread by mistake, oops: Bumping this for non-Port Canaveral cruisers... I'm sailing out of Miami on Saturday and someone in my cruise group just posted this: "Inspire confirmed today that it is an antigen test next week. Finishing up the last of the PCR’s on hand today!" She asked specifically about our cruise from Miami. I hope that's true... For whatever reason the antigen test feels much less stressful than PCR. I think because the odds of an asymptomatic positive seems much lower....

This is great news about Miami and just shows Disney really has no reason not to expand this to other parts. Even Vancouver seeing that even Canada, who’s been very restrictive, Requires only antigen
