Would someone please give me a list of rental car companies available at Port. We are taking a 7 day cruise and flying out on sunday. We thought about visiting Kennedy Space Center sat and will need a car.

Hi there!

We just returned 2/1 from the 4-day Wonder and rented from Budget at Port Caneveral. It was a great experience! We went to the breakfast buffet rather than our assigned breakfast and de-barked around 7:30am. The Budget van was right there to meet us at the white tent and we were at the rental office within 10 minutes. We had reserved an economy car (there were only 2 of us), but were upgraded to a compact (a Focus with only 46 miles on it!). Drove to WDW for lunch (we were on property by 9:30am), then dropped to car off at the Orlando airport-- very seamless drop off! We will definately use Budget again for our next trip to WDW/DCL.

EeyoreJMH,
We are also going with Budget after our cruise. My concern is getting all of our luggage and us to the rental office. There are 4 of us, we are doing the land/sea and then going to South Beach for 3 days after the cruise. We will try to cut down on luggage and maybe do some laundry so we don't have so much stuff. With the four of us and maybe 4 suitcases and 2 duffle bags, will this be a problem?

EeyoreJMH - I would suggest a mini-van or SUV (just be sure your SUV is not a Tracker). I am one to pack, unpack and instead of only repacking half as much I pack MORE and with 6 people we had plenty of room in the mini-van.

Hi jinx!

I wouldn't think 4 bags and 2 duffles would be a problem for the Budget van to the rental office. We had a very, very large suitcase, a smaller suitcase, and a very large duffle and we still had room for another family of 4 plus their bags. We had packed a bit more than needed, since we had been at WDW for four days prior to the cruise.

The van is about the size of the Mears vans and can seat about 7 or 8, I think. Behind us in line was a family of 5 with about 7 pieces of luggage-- the van that came right after ours picked them up together without a problem. Budget had two vans running that morning.

Hope that helps!

Thanks EeyoreJMH! I've been on shuttle vans before where they cram several families onto one shuttle and was concerned that our luggage would take away space from other families. Glad to hear the shuttle runs early also. We want to get on the road as early as possible. Glad to hear you had a good trip also.

We just rented from Budget on Saturday. Not quite the same great news as EeyoreJMH. The van was not there when we got off the ship. We were the sixth or seventh family in line. All of the other shuttles were coming but no Budget. The CM there said that there had been NO Budget shuttle that morning. Some one in line phoned the ofice who seemed rather surprised that people were waiting. (this was at 8:30) They sent the vans over to pick us up. By this time the line was rediculously long. The Avis shuttle started to take people to Budget since they had delt with their lines before the first Budget shuttle appeared.

At Budget they had one person working the counter. They were expecting 60 people renting cars before 10 am and one person to work the counter! Service was slow. The woman that cleaned the cars backed one into a pole (crash!:scared1: ) cleaned it and put it back into rotation without letting anyone know! (always check your rental car for damage before taking it out!) Three people were already getting cars they didn't want because they were running out of cars!

All in all we got what we reaserved and high tailed it out of there. For the $10 cheaper it was to rent from Budget, next time we're using Avis!

BTW jinx, a lot of families had a LOT more luggage then that and there was no problems with getting it into the van.:D

Thanks for the info, momof2. It seems to be hit or miss with Budget. I already have my reservation, so I'll probably just keep it. It's a pretty reasonable rate for one way to Miami. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. We'll try to be off as soon as they allow us, and maybe have our cell phone ready if they don't show up.
