I just booked a room at port orleans french quarter but just noticed that they closed the marina. How far of a walk is it to riverside? We wanted to be able to take the boat to downtown disney. Also --How is this resort? we usually stay at the contemporary but wanted to go a little cheaper this year. WHich is better french quarter or riverside. My husband and I will be there with our 7 year old daughter. Is one building better than the other? Are there any transportation issues that I should be aware of? Thanks so much for your help!!!

The boat was running from French Quarter when we were there around 16 December. We were staying at Riverside which was beautiful and walked to FQ to use the pool one day. We liked it there so much I have booked for a week in October. Both parts are lovely, the pool at FQ may be better for a 7 yr old girl but the playground is probably better at Riverside. You would need to go to Riverside I believe to hire bikes or boats etc but it is a very pleasant 5 - 10 minute walk. It was very quiet when we were there so transport was not an issue but I believe at busy times the bus can be quite full by the time it reaches FQ which only has one bus stop compared to 4 for POR.

Hi, we'll be staying at French Quarter next May and I was under the impression that the busses stop there first and then go on to Riverside. Has this changed?
