Port Orleans vs AKL

These two resorts feel like apples & oranges so I’m having a hard time deciding. This would be a one night stay tacked onto the the beginning of an existing trip, so basically we’d be using it as a non-park arrival day before transferring to GF. AKL is obviously more expensive but I’ve always wanted to stay there, but we’ve avoided bc we don’t like the bus-only transportation for a full stay. I thought a one night stay would be a nice opportunity to check it out and just use the resort for arrival day. On the other hand, POR (either) has the boat to Disney Springs which would also make for a nice non-park arrival day, is cheaper, and I much prefer the theming over OKW and SS.

Which would you choose in this instance?

If the stay was for a family, I’d recommend the AKL. Lots of fun activities for kids there. If a young couple, then I’d probably suggest POFQ for the boat to the springs. Unless of course the couple would like to try Boma, Sanaa, or Jiko, in which case AKL would win again.

AKL

I vote for AKL as well. One of the best resorts for a non-park day. There is much to explore and many of the best restaurants to enjoy.

Another vote for AKL. It's on your bucket list. It won't break the bank if you're staying only one night. And it's a great resort for a non-park stay.

Animal Kingdom hands down! There’s no other resort like it. It can literally be placed anywhere in the country and be a top resort with their amazing theme and restaurant selections.

I love AKL for this with DVC points. But I don't think AKL is worth the cash price, sorry. I mean, it's cool. It's actually why I even looked into buying DVC. But the cash price is bananas.

AKL Pros:

- Awesome theming
- Animals out your window in Savannah View rooms
- Food is amazing

POFQ Pros:

- More central location
- Skyliner
- Super QUIET
- Compact size
- Best CS food in a resort
- Boat to Dis Springs
- Price

POR Pros:

- Can't think of any

I'd probably go with POFQ.

AKL is one of my favorite resorts on property. Especially, if you are not going to a park, that's where I'd choose.

AKL is my vote too. We did the same thing. We stayed one night to check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I think you might be mistaken on the Skyliner. Only Riveria, CBR, AOA & POP have skyliner stations
You are absolutely correct. Brain cramp. Stayed at all of those resorts. I knew better.

Thanks for correcting me.

AKL because you’ve always wanted to stay there & you can enjoy an evening at the resort without having to go anywhere (I’m assuming you’ll arrive during daytime and be able to enjoy seeing the hotel savanna a bit. If you aren’t arriving until night I’d do POR.)
