I can get a good rate at port Orleans Riverside.

Anyone recommend this resort (2 adults , 3 kids ages 9,7,3)?
Where is it and what is it close to?

It's close to Downtown Disney. We've stayed there 3 times. Twice we had all around excellent experiences. On our 2nd trip there, we had a bad experience. Would I stay there again? Absolutely...we have a room booked for January!

I would absolutely recommend Riverside. This is my favorite moderate resort. Have probably stayed there about 15 times over the years. The resort grounds are beautiful, the main pool has a big slide that the kids will love and one of the best perks I think is the boat that you can take to DTD. The only other moderate that offers this is the French Quarter (which is a five minute walk from Riverside). Also, almost all of the rooms have been recently referbished.

Have a great time!

We were there in June with kids 11, 8 and 4 so similar to yours. The four year old thought he was pretty cool in the trundle bed.

Choices are limited for a family of 5 and I definitely recommend this resort for you. We were in a building between the pool and the food court. It was perfect. I requested a first floor corner room (corner rooms have 2 windows). It's a very nice place.

Hello ~

Don't forget about the water taxi's to Downtown Disney, that rocks, and if you have a great 'captain' he'll give you hints on Hidden Mickeys, info on the foliage, and why and how the things were named!

Have fun!

I dunno how it is, but I'll be there on SUNDAY!!! :) :Pinkbounc

My family of 5(9,9,6)will be at POR Feb 3-8.Me and my husband stayed here when it was Dixie Landings and loved it.The only problem we had was we were on the bottom floor and when the room on top would flush, you could hear the water coming down your walls.I requested a top floor room this time.

WE LOVE IT! Thats where we will be in 14 days. You will like it. Its perfect for the amount of people you have. I'd give it a try, you'll be happy

I love POR. The grounds are so pretty. I've only stayed in the mansions. The rooms there have been redone and they are nice, especially the new mattresses. The boat to DTD is fun.

my boyfriend and I stayed at POR in September of this year. It was my first trip to WDW since 1995 and I was a bit leary about staying at a moderate resort since my family always stayed at the Poly (for 17 consecutive years). I admit, I was spoiled!

Anyway, We LOVED IT! The grounds are beautiful! We were in AB bldg 18 which is a smoking building but I never would have known had there not been an ash tray in the room. No smoky smell anywhere. The beds were very comfy and we were close to the main building/bus stop/food...and lounge (most important for us!!) I love their Miss Melodies Colada and appetizers....ok back on the subject. I think you'll love POR...it really is a beautiful resort and not a long ride to any of the parks via bus.

HI, we ( 4?,4?,9.5.3) just got back from 5N @ POR, 11/28-12/3, enjoyed it very much,, more than AKL del sav rm!,, Great value for the money,, some room problems w/ loc at first but they moved us at check-in,, ( stay on top of them), maintence took care of some problems first night right away, but left a really dirty garbage can in room , which we moved outside... Great food court which we used,, took bike ride around resort which is beautiful,, request room on inside area as rooms on / near road could be noisy,, we had 1827, first floor @ small pool & near food court,,, EXCELLENT resort , I had been trying orginally ti do 5 @ csr but they only did in a suite,, as we had stayed there twice before,, but I would do POR again w/ no problem,,, close to all parks except AK, great bus servive ( shorter wait than AKL) >>>>>>>>>> ENJOY

Could my DS 12 use the trundelbed? We will have 5 this year. We are taking my neice. Anyway the girls could share a bed but DS would end up in the trundle. He is 100 lbs and about 5 feet tall. From what I've read he is too big but since you have actually used one what do you think? Thanks! princess: pirate: :cheer2:

My oldest DD has used the trundle at POR several times, the latest being in July of 2003 when she was 16. She'll use it again for trip in June 2005. She is 5 foot tall and a little over 100 lbs. It was fine. I think size is the issue, not age. Someone another couple of inches taller though would be uncomfortable. POR is a great resort--hope you enjoy!
