I've read a few negative posts now I'm getting a little concerned thinking of changing resorts. Any info on this resort would be greatly appreciated, has it been renovated? Is there a particular building we should ask for when we check in. Have a 5 and 6 year old.

I just joined this board yesterday and I am already soooo addicted.

It is our favorite resort in Disney! I would stay in the mansions. The Bayou can be far away from the front desk. The atmosphere here is very nice, almost upscale, and the kids could fish in the pond. Also, go to the River Roost (?) at night for the sing along. It is too much fun!

(you may want to post this thread again in the resorts section where you can get more reviews.)

Don't even think about changing! Port Orleans Riverside is the greatest. I love it, But request to stay in the mansions. They are beautiful. It is so peaceful there. You have to try it. The walk to the food court is not too far from the mansions and the mansions also have close bus stops. You can also take a boat ride to downtown disney if it is running. Its wonderful. I wish i was going there but my family has decided to try something new. We are staying at CBR. I have never been there. Don't change you will have a wonderful time! :D

We stayed at POR in August and loved it! We stayed in the Mansions, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms were clean, no complaints here. They have the boat to Downtown Disney, and horse and buggy rides.

hey there! I had the same feeling I realized that I paid too much attention to the little bad stuff like maid service not being right up to par. It gets busy. Anyhoo, after much reflection I realized that the pros TOTALLY outweigh the cons. there really aren't any cons i suppose. so it's safe to say that you will have a LOVELY stay at the POR. We're staying there as well during the holidays! yay!!!

We are staying at POR next week and I too was thinking what was I getting myself into, but honestly, any hotel in disney has to be better than home and work... so sit back and don't worry, you always hear the bad...

Stayed in mansions once and ab once #17. I've posted this all before but everyting at the resort was great, clean rooms, quiet,
nice staff.

It's our favorite resort. We're heading back in December for two stays, which will total 8 nights. I've stayed in both sections, but prefer AB because I like the open space and the landscaping, and it doesn't bother me at all not to be near the main buildings. The walk is lovely, and the exercise certainly doesn't hurt!

We love POR and have stayed there many times. We usually request a room on the first or second floor of the Parterre Place section of the mansions, but next time we stay there we'll probably try out Alligator Bayou or even French Quarter (if it ever reopens!). I've visited all the resorts for meals, shopping, etc., but this resort definitely has the best food court and a really nice store to shop in. Also it's fun to ride the boat to/from Downtown Disney. The landscaping here is some of the most beautiful in all Walt Disney World. One of these days if I get a really good rate I'll stay in a deluxe (WL or AKL), but POR suits us (and "us" has included, me, my husband, mom, dad, MIL, SIL, sister, nieces, and nephew) just fine.

Can't say anything about the mansions. We're "Alligator People" and love the Bayou. The whole place is so charming and comfortable, and clean!! We split our last stay and spent the last 3 days at WL. I have to say, I missed my Riverside. Can't wait to go back....ooooh that #!*% countdown, will it ever get smaller?!

We loved this resort. I would not change resorts. We stayed here for our honeymoon in May 2001 and loved it. Last year we stayed at CBR in July and was not impressed at all. We liked PO much more. The boat ride to DTD is a nice relaxing change of pace.

Honestly the only advise we can give you is to go and try it for yourself. Don't get too worried about the negative comments; if you look you will see that all the resorts have them. What is great for some people is not going to be great for everyone.

Personally we haven't stayed there; but would love to someday. Go and decide for yourseves. If you don't like it than you don't have to stay there again; but you will never know unless you try it. Just remember you are going to "The Happiest Place on Earth"! That is all that really matters!

I have stayed in both the mansions and the bayou. We were in Building 14 in the Bayou and the convenience to the food court was great. The mansions are nice too, though, but if you are looking to be close to the food court, you might want to opt for one of the closer bayou buildings. The Pool area is great, and my youngest LOVED the playground near the pool...it is nice and shady and that was a plus for me!! We stayed there over February vacation week, and had no trouble getting to and from the parks, bus service was very good, although I have to say the best bus service we had was when we stayed at All Stars, and the worst was the Swan.
