Hi

Thinking of booking a stay here next year, does anyone have any experience of this resort? Any pictures or tips to share?

TIA

Sarah

First stay was there!

Have done a lot of resort visiting on my trips and I honestly think if we hadnt gone here first, I might not have fallen in love with WDW as deeply as I have :love::love:

Great resort, and you get 2 for the price of one as its a nicely paced stroll down the river to the French Quarter.

Stayed there twice and loved it :)

We stayed both times in the Aligator Bayou section in Building 14 (closest to foodcourt and main bus deepo).

Beautiful landscaping, great food court with plenty of choice and space, very nice quiet pools for relaxing afternoon swims. Even when busy the resort never feels crowded.
The shop has a good slection of gifts, clothing etc. and you can get most essentials there to (at a price) like milk, drinks, basic medicines, snacks etc..

Boat to DTD is also a good plus point.

Wouldn't say the rooms are huge, but are fine for the time you spend in them. You now get a small fridge in the room.

Bus transport to the parks is OK, although you do share buses with POFQ. There are 4 bus deepos in POR so during the most popular times of day it's best to wait at the main bus deepo (south) to ensure you get a seat.
Having said that, even when busy we have never waited more than 15-20 minutes for a bus.
Returning to POR on the buses at park closing can be very busy (as are all the resort buses at park closing), but we always wait in the park until all the crowds have gone. Just grab a snack and a drink and sit and watch all the crowds rush to the exits LOL. You can then take you time and stroll to the bus stops and not have to wait in the lines at the bus stop.

Anyone else with building suggestions for Port Orleans Riverside?

Along with building 14, I have also heard that Building 18 is a good place to stay. I will be attempting to request a particular building and it would good for a little advice.

We had building 18 which is indeed a good location.
We sent a fax a few days before our arrival requesting a building in the aligator bayou side, preferably close to the foodcourt (made a few suggestions too). It apparantly helps to explain why you want to be somewhere rather than just request a certain building.

Thanks for the reply - I have the number for the front desk at Port Orleans Riverside (taken from the great website posted above) so i will be making a polite phone call about a week or 5 days before we travel to request either building 14 or 18, with a few reasons. Hopefully if I request either it will be looked on as a little less demanding. :thumbsup2

tbh - couldnt really fault it - stayed in August last year - really havent got a bad word to say :thumbsup2
