Just locked into a AAA package and now I find this Dis board thing!! Anyone have a good/bad experience here? Food, Room, pools? THanks

I haven't stayed at POR but I have stayed at POFQ, its sister resort. We spent some time at POR and it's beautiful. There are lots of things to do there, and the boat to DTD is a nice plus. We rented a boat several times, took a carriage ride in the evening, and rented a surrey bike at the POR marina. Lots of fun. We didn't see the feature pool but the pictures look fun. You'll enjoy your stay there.

Out first stay was at POR...we had a great time..IMO ony problem(and I am being totally serious was the size of the bed..2 full's-I really need 2 queen's, but that is my problem, not WDW's). I loved the pool, the Food court has a great selection, they have sitdown dining if you don't want food court. There is a Lounge area. Boat ride to DTD, and you can go fishing too. There are 2 seprate themes to the POR. One is Magnolia way...plantation feel, and Aligator Bayou..Rustic Cottage with lots of vegitation. We were in AB, and had a fantastic time...I think you want Building 14 (If I remember right to be close to the bus stop, dining and pool. Make sure you get that put into your reservation. We have since brought DVC, so that is the only reason why we are not back.

Here's some more info: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_dxl.htm

We stayed there our first time onsite. We really enjoyed it and will be back on day after we try out a few other resorts. Very quiet, secluded feel. The boat ride to DTD is nice.

Another plus, it is the cheapest option for families with 5 people.

We have stayed at all of the Moderate category hotels. This past May was our first time at POR--the grounds are really pretty. I have heard/seen on these boards complaints about the bus service at this resort, but we never had any real complaints first hand. We were a party of 11 and never had to wait more than 10-15 min at early am for MK-- I would stay there again--but then again we are a family of 5--only priced hotel that allows 5 in the room.

It was my father's first time at WDW and he is still talking about the resort. I thought he may have been intimidated by the size of the grounds, but he got to know his way around very easily. Even said he would go back there...this is coming from a man who rarely compliments anything!!!I think you will be happy.....after all, it is DISNEY!!

I will be going to WDW for the 8th time in Dec by myself and staying at POR. I had a choice between Coronada Springs or Por and I chose POR. I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

We love POR! We have stayed there twice and both trips were great. The resort is smaller and we had good luck with the transportation. We never waited longer than 10-15 minutes for a bus. Plus, we like the boat to DTD. Make sure you try the french toast at the food court, awesome!

Hi Lisette

I don't mean to worry you but perhaps you should check on the resorts board?

POR has been terrible lately :( housekeeping, service, and buses really leave something to be desired. You can read all about it on the numerous threads on that board - but believe me after what we saw there, we won't be staying again (and I've stayed there before and loved it so it was ahuge disappointment!!)

We loved POR! We stayed there in Sept. and were in building 18 in the AB section. Our housekeeping was great, food court wonderful, and bus service adequate. Extras....boat to Downtown Disney, boat/water mouse/paddle boat rentals, cane pole fishing, surry bike rentals, and lots more. Have you seen this slide show? You'll more or less get mixed reviews of any hotel or restaurant on the property but my personal opinion of POR is :thumbsup2

I truly believe that what one person dislikes, for another person it doesn't bother them. I too like to read what others say about the hotel, but I've learned to go with your travelling party and have a GREAT time. We are staying for the first time in a Moderate (stayed at 2 home away from home when we were 12 and 16) in about 5 weeks. We are really looking forward to it. Although it was not our first choice (actually tried the other two Mods first and POR was the only available) were glad it kinda choose us. Really looking forward to the Boat to DTD and just everything else!

Glad to read the positives. DS and DDIL will be @POR on our upcoming trip and I was really hoping they would enjoy it.

I have stayed at POR three times,Christmas last year, this past March, and this past August. We love it! Beautiful grounds, never had housekeeping problems, food court is good...we drive so I really can't comment on the buses, but we took the boat to DTD and it was fun. My DD (now 19) loves the dressing area curtain by the sinks, and double sinks are great with us two women.

In March, I took my mom, (now 73), and she and I loved the lounge with the lounge entertainer Bob, DD was not interested cuz she is way cool.... :cool1:

It was fun. Cute store, never ate at Boatwrights but I have heard it is good, and we never used the pool but it looks good. We did use the hot tub at POFQ at Christmas (POR was broken, but was fixed in August).

We really love it. Always stayed at ASMU or POP before last Christmas, and while we like those too..not sure we would go back...except for financial reasons.

Have a great time!

We just got back a couple of weeks ago from our third stay at POR. Everything was good - not much wait for buses, food court OK, nice pool and hot tub. The grounds are beautiful also. :sunny:

POR is our favorite. We have stayed there with our "kids" when they were little and we often return when we have used up our DVC points. It is very beautiful and peaceful there and we really enjoy Bob Jackson at the lounge. The food court is very good as well. :goodvibes

We have stayed at the Magnolia terrace section once and this will be our second time at the Alligator Bayou section. We stayed in building 15 last time - had requested 14 but 15 was fine. We now have 3 kids, so POR is so much more reasonable than the deluxe resorts and we have found it to be quite nice. We have enjoyed the pools the boat ride to DTD, the shop there and the grounds. The food court has also been great. On our first trip we would go back to the food court for lunch, settle the kids (and ourselves!) for a nap and then return to the parks all refreshed. But now, my kids are older and won't hear of leaving the parks until we are all exhausted! You will have a wonderful time at POR!

A beautiful resort. I stop by every trip, even if not staying there. Lot of pictures from there in the resort picture link in my signature.
