Port Orleans Riverside vs other moderates

As you can see from my signature I've stayed at all levels and moderates several times. POR has the best food court on WDW property hands down. My fave is POFQ due to the small size, but it only marginally edges out POR. CBR is a huge, quiet resort with large rooms, great pools and IMHO one of the most disappointing food courts on WDW property: don't even try the sit down, trust me. CSR has surprisingly good sit down, multiple bars and fun pools, but one section of rooms is .48 mile from the main building/food court; yes, there is an internal shuttle but that was too much bother for me just to get drinks refilled.

Personal fireworks? I'm a first-timer booked into POR in October. Could you explain that part to me? Fireworks sound great!

The royal rooms have fiber-optic fireworks displays. It sounds cooler than it is.

Sorry if I misled you. Yes there are fiber optic fireworks in the headboard in the royal rooms. I think it is a really neat detail they put into those rooms!

You didn't mislead me! We might have chosen the Royal except chose preferred to shorten the walk time as much as possible. Maybe next time.

Having stayed at all of the moderates, POR is my absolute favorite without even thinking about it. I love the royal rooms, so if I stay at Riverside, I will book those rooms. The resort is so quiet and relaxing. The grounds are just beautiful and they nailed it with the theme there. I think the food court is the best of all the resorts we've stayed at. We love the boats to DTD - nice way to get away from the buses.
