I'm on page 19 and haven't seen my questions asked. Please forgive me if they have. Is there a dresser /bureau in the preferred rooms? If we don't go with the preferred room, are there any drink stations (for coffee especially) located around the resort? Thanks
If you go to www.portorleans.org it will show you great pics of all the rooms. Drink stations are only in the food court which is super close to the preferred rooms which are in AB. But you will have a coffee pot in your room. Have a great vacation!!

Just those small draws under the Murphy bed.

No, only in the food court.

I don't think they hold back any rooms. The point of the discounts like fd is to fill the rooms. I would bet people are holding reservations in hopes it will come out and they switch to the discount.

This is true they don't hold back to give a discount. The discount is to fill the rooms. If the rooms are booked without the discount they won't offer it. So anyone that is holding a room hoping to get a discount probably won't because that room category is full without the discount.

Just finished booking my first-ever stay at POR! Booked a Royal room for my birthday the last week in October. I'm hoping we enjoy it!

:-)

The last week of October doesnt have any more standard rooms at POR... might be time for me to look into another resort. I really wanted to stay here, but I also do not wanna pay 20 dollars extra a night for a view.

We have our first stay at POR coming in a little over a month.
We have chosen the Royal Rooms, but know nothing about a possible location. We have Garden View booked.
Is there a better building? I have read there is roof construction going on. Should we be concerned about the noise of that. We do take breaks during the days. We have 2 connecting rooms reserved. Are there only certain sections with connecting rooms??
Any help with a possible location and building preference would be helpful.
We are driving, so we will have our car with us, but won't necessarily always choose to use it.

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked many times. I did a google search but see different answers. Are towels provided at the pools? Thanks so much.

When we went in April, there were towels provided at the main pool, but none at the quiet pool. However, there was a towel return area at the quiet pool (royal room section) so perhaps they ran out?

Has anyone been recently? I know last trip we got life vests for the pool at the boat dock and they had us keep them for the trip. I remember someone said they are now at the pool?

Correct, life vests for kids are available free of charge at all of the pools. You should not keep them for your whole stay, just return them to the storage bin and pick up a new one next time.

. Does anyone know how many standard rooms there are compared to Gardenview rooms and Pool view rooms.

There's a complete breakdown of all room types in www.portorleans.org/images/buildingmaps/Floorplan-POR-MagnoliaBend.pdf, but for POR regular (i.e. non-Royal) rooms there are 259 Standard View rooms compared to 768 Garden Views.

Is there a dresser /bureau in the preferred rooms?

There is no dresser in any of the Alligator Bayou room (which is where the Preferred Location rooms are situated). Instead there is a bench seat with a fold-down murphy bed. There is a small shelf along the top of this, and also some countertop area and a few tiny shelves by the fridge.

I thought I read that you could refill your mug at the main pool snack bar ?

Sorry, you were misled, as far as Port Orleans is concerned anyway. The only beverage refill stations are in the two food courts (you can fill up at both POR and POFQ).

Is there a better building? I have read there is roof construction going on. Are there only certain sections with connecting rooms??

Connecting rooms are in all sections. Roof construction work is going on at Oak Manor for the next couple of months, mostly on the parking-lot side of the building by the time you get there.

In general terms, Oak Manor probably has the better selection of convenient rooms for accessing the main buildings, but the very best ones of all are in the northern wing of Parterre Place. Probably best not to second-guess what might be available on your dates and just let them know WHAT you want rather than a particular building (e.g. "connecting rooms with easy access to the main building, but away from daytime construction noise please").

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked many times. I did a google search but see different answers. Are towels provided at the pools? Thanks so much.

Yes, but at the main feature pools only. There are towel-drop locations at the quiet pools though, so either collect a few from the main pool area first, or take your room towels to the pool and request some extras from housekeeping.

Got back home yesterday from the most amazing trip. Staying in the mansions and in the royal rooms for me was awesome. DH and I agree that we do love POR. He said we needed to come back to same room we were in this past week every time, lol. Once I download all of my pics I will create an album and post the link like I did for my trip in August. We shall be returning but no date has been set. Probably next year around the same time. The CM at POR were great. All very friendly and helpful. Thanks to Andre and Venom for all of their help to. ;)

Wait...I thought there were small drawers under the Murphy bed. Is this not true?

We are staying in a royal room for the weekend in June & I am beyond excited!!! The pictures are just gorgeous and I can't wait to see it in person!! I hate it's just for a weekend but we will be going back with some friends next February- hopefully ill like it enough to suggest it for next year! :) Glad you enjoyed it so much!

The rooms are just like the pictures. You're going to love them.

Yes they do open!

Thank you!! I thought so but the way Andre worded it I was seconding guessing what I had read.

I still consider the storage provided in the rooms since the refurb not enough for 3 or more guests. That's why I bought hanging organizers.

I agree, for rooms that are meant to sleep up to five people the storage is woefully inadequate. I'm sure there must have been other options.
