Doing a split stay at the end of August all at POR to take advantage of free dining when it starts in September. How good are the chances that I'll be able to get my tickets early at the POR front desk? If that doesn't work, is my next closest choice DTD? I'd like to have them in hand the evening before we hit a park.

You can pick up package tickets three days (maybe more?) early from the resort ticket desks.

I tried to add tickets to my split stay (to save money on the first package I wanted to add 3 more days to the second package), the CM wouldn't allow me to do this. She told me that Disney frowns on picking up tickets not associated with that package ahead of time:confused3 VERY CONFUSING!

You could still pick them up early and add the days after you have them.

They can frown all they want. You can still pick them up early.

Got a funny story to share. BDLsgal sends me THIS LINK and it is a pic from Andrewilley that shows that a bridge is out at POR. A few minutes goes by and then she sends me a news story about a "Disney-area resort" and a sink hole.

My reaction was...

NOOOOOOOOOOOO..........!!!!!!!!!

I had thought that POR was victim of a sink hole.

But as I read the article, I saw that it was an off resort, condo area. First and foremost, I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. Secondly...

Thank GOD!!!, that POR is still intact.

I have a split stay at POR coming up in October. I'm glad to hear we can pick up our tickets 3 days early! That means we can hit MK on the first day for a bit. Anyone know if you can start your dining plan early too? :rolleyes1 Just curious since we have dining reservations the first night.

Nope, sorry. Dining Plan entitlements are valid the morning of check-in date of the particular package.

This is true if your resort has a ticket desk, I don't believe POR has one though. You have to go to Guest Services at one of the parks or DTD to get tickets early. There is a ticket sticky in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684

From the sticky:

I. Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package

In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park or DTD Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up. (Note this cannot be done at a water park.)

It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.

Note that since August 2011 the Call Centers have been telling Guests this cannot be done. However it is still a valid procedure and can be done with no problem at Park Guest Relations Windows.

There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.

And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in.

I would suggest you copy down the following information if you are planning to upgrade promotional tickets. If the person in the window is hesitant to upgrade these promotional tickets, ask them go go into The Hub >> WDW >> Work >> Ticketing >> Processes & Business Rules >> Early Ticket Pickup For Resort Packages where they will see the procedure.

We are arriving on 8/31 for a RO reservation with a package starting on 9/2. We're going to go to DTD upon arrival to try and get our tickets so we can go to a park on 9/1.

My family is staying at the Yacht Club (room only) before our package starts at POR. We were picked to test Magic Bands and FP+ at YC, but won't have our tickets/dining until we check into POR. Does anyone know if POR will be able to add tickets/dining to our Magic Bands or will they become useless when we get there? We check in at POR on 8/18.

Awww.. oh well thanks for the info.

I have to wonder if the early ticket thing will change with the my magic band stuff.... especially fastpass+ I hope not but I might have to get the kids prepared not to go to the park on the first day.. just in case.

Ok...our bags are packed. Have to drop the dog at the kennel and pick up some headphones for the plane. Meeting our travel mates at 1115am then off to the airport to catch our flight. We'll be at POR tonight! I can't believe it is finally here

Yeah it was in Clermont County a near by county but not Disney Property. It was weird with the first few reports they said on Disney Property. Then they changed it to say near.

Very glad also everyone got out fine and was relocated to other villas!!!
