The 2014 rack and package rates are out now on the WDW USA website.

I've just compared a few sample dates this year vs. next year for POR. While the Standard room types actually don't seem to have changed at all, and Garden View goes up a few dollars, some other types have rocketed. e.g. in peak July, River View goes up from $254 this year to $279 next, and Pool View from $248 to $273 - that's $25 more expensive, or about a 10% increase.

Andre

Hey Andre, I did some comparisons and was very surprised myself looking for another May Trip, in the April/May "season" slot....

When booking in 2013 at POR, we paid a bit of a premium on our King room, but this year that premium seems to have gone CrAzY .....

Most prices on rooms haven't changed from last year during our trip period, standard room is $3 more per weekend night, Weekday is the same.

Garden View is the exact same.

KING rooms, are $18 more per week night and $12 more per weekend night....

2013 POR prices: April/May
Standard 188/213
Garden 200/225
King 215/240

2014 POR Prices: April/May
Standard 188/216
Garden 200/225
King 233/252

Also noticed a similar increase at Other mods, including CBR:

CBR 2013 April/May

Standard 188/213
Water 213/238
King 213/238

CBR 2014 April/May

Standard 188/216 (same increase as POR)
Water 215/240 (tiny increase, $2/day)
King 221/251 (Again, a rather large increase)

Not wanting any of my Dis friends at POR caught off guard.

I will be there before the 31st, so I am glad to be aware of it so I don't plan on loads of food and beverages needing to be kept cool in the room.

We are checking in on Monday and will let you guys know if I hear anything down there.

Anyone there now in a room that can tell us about the refrigerator issue? (besides Venom who works at Disney) Andre, what have you heard?

I know last month or so there were issues with a Grand Califnornian refigerator causing a small fire I believe..so this may be connected.

As I live in California and frequent the DL boards mostly this is all I can think of. May be a recall for safety.

Nothing other than the released statements, and that they seem to be removing them between guest stays (so if you're there now, they won't remove the fridge from your room until after you leave).

So I guess they're only leaving the letter in unoccupied rooms so when a guest checks in it's, SURPRISE! NO FRIDGE!!!!

They should be switching out fridges between guests so odds are most if not all guests will not notice an inconvenience.

If that is the case, I wonder why is this in the announcement on disneytravelagents.com,
"Guests staying at these Resort hotels will be notified of the refrigerator removal
Via a letter in their room."?

It does not matter. Only maintenance for Disney knows exactly what is going on day to day. What happens today, may be totally different next week. I work in Facilities Management and things change day-to-day.

Have a plan B and you will be fine. It is not the end of the world.

Sorry, Venom, not true. There are not 18,000 refrigerators available to just switch out overnight. That's why Disney said several months.

If there's a risk of fire, then they'd need to remove all of the refrigerators immediately. I don't know that replacing them would even start happening until the risk was removed.

I thought they were switching them between guests. Certainly not leaving guest without refrigeration.

We are checking in on July 27th. Disappointed about the refrigerator issue but not going to let it ruin the trip for sure! We are thinking of breakfast alternatives. In the gift shop do they sell a 1/2 gal size if milk or even by the quart? We planned on cereal so if we stopped on each morning and purchased the milk we can certainly still have the cereal. My DSs will have no problem finishing it off each morning.

I'm going to wait on buying groceries until we are checked in and know the exact situation. We usually stay in a 2bdrm villa so the whole mod resort stay is different for us. We are excited for our first POR stay!

15 more sleeps til we are on the way!

Oh yes, they are. If they were only switching between guests, there would be no need for this big Hoopla.

Booked POR for Aug 2014. This will only be the second time for us at the world but I'm so excited to explore another resort!
