We're all checked in, unpacked, lunch eaten, and now waiting out a pretty nasty storm. Check in was soooo easy. The sweet CM was explaining every little detail to us ( she didn't know I was a disboard freak) so I just listened patiently when inside I was like 'which room did we get!' Ha!

We got a beautiful royal room. Top floor, oak manor, corner room (didn't even request one!) with a view of the river out the side and a beautiful fountain out the front. We are so pleased! The resort it gorgeous! Pictures do not do it justice!

Already had some pixie dust! An anniversary phone call from Minnie and Mickey, a gift sent from a friend, a little anniversary towel animal, and some mysterious little toy mickeys that weren't in the room when we got here, but were when we got back from eating? Strange! Oh, and the make your own pasta and magic cookie bars are A-mazing! Thank you all for the help and advice!!

Quoting myself bc I don't know how to edit my post on my iPhone, ha! I never specified, but we paid for a garden view room and ended up with this spectacular room! Also, I requested a deep clean due to allergies and from what I can tell they did a great job. I wiped down a few surfaces with Clorox wipes and the wipe was clean :)

sounds like things are going very well so far! :woohoo:

Quick question. Our cards are RFID, right? So does that mean we should use the RFID entrances to the parks instead of the finger scan ones? Are they all located together? If its crowded I just want to have a heads up on which lines are the RFID ones or which area to go toward. Thanks!!

thank you so much! I'm still trying to pack & clean right now, almost done though!

Yup, as long as your park admission is loaded onto your keycard anyway. You can't miss them, there's no turnstile, just an open entryway with vertical posts to use your card on.

Our tickets are on our card since we did the 30% off package that included tickets. Thanks so much for the quick answer! Now, if only this storm system would move out faster! Ha!!

Even though they are RFID you still also have to do finger scans, gottu say monday mornings at the park entrances were terrible for people figuring out the entrance regime ...

When we were there the week of Memorial Day, some days were fine going through the finger scans but other days, part of our party got through fine and the others didn't, then later that day when we went back to the same park, the people that didn't have any trouble earlier, had trouble and the people earlier that did have trouble didn't. Gotta love technology. Since I watch the disboards and knew they were "working out the kinks" I told people in our party early so we weren't surprised when we had "issues".:goodvibes

Only 96 days until we arrive at POR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It will be me DH and DD5.

We booked standard room, that was all that was in the budget.
I don't really care about view but my parents are also going so would like connecting rooms and something close to main building.

Would you request mansions or AB?

Looking at the map the standard rooms is Magnolia Terrace look closer that AB standard rooms in Building 16.

Is that correct?

I'm home now after 9 nights at POR. The only thing I like about that is being able to sleep in my own bed. We loved POR. Got a first floor, corner room in bldg 17 in Alligator Bayou as requested. It was located between the west and south depots. The rooms were just the right size. Check in was a breeze, received the text when our room was ready. Every CM we encountered here was friendly. Mousekeeping did a good job at keeping us stocked with towels. My kids seemed to like the our quiet pool since it was less busy. I enjoyed the Disney experience of these beautiful grounds without it being overly Disneyfied. We watched one movie on the lawn one night. We ordered pizza twice for delivery and enjoyed the sausage pizza. The food court was just ok to us. I didn't like the build your own pasta bar. My hubby enjoyed his though. Never had to wait long for the busses going to or from the resort. Some bus drivers brake harder than others which can be hard on you if you have to stand. I now have over 1,000 pics to sort through of our trip. I miss WDW and POR already and am in tears thinking about it.

So what is the advantage of the RFID line if you still have to do the finger scan and bag check? Not seeing it. Just trying to get my plan down since we leave so soon :)

You can check out the theme parks board regarding the parks.

I wouldn't sweat it, there doesn't seem to need to "plan" something you have no control over.

It is still much faster. tap the card and touch your finger for a second and you are good to go, then, only those with bags need to have them checked. If you have your bag open and ready, this is very fast, too. I am sure this is debated in threads over in the Theme Park forum, but we found it convenient and fast in 2012.
