Greetings from inside Tropical Storm Andrea :wave2:

We arrived yesterday AM around 10:30am. Our room was not ready so we headed to MK. We got the room text while on the bus. Rain started in earnest around 4pm so we headed back.

A bellman drove us to our room with our carry ons so we wouldn't get soaked :drive: (and earned himself a well deserved tip).

We are booked in Royal Room, standard. My only request was top floor, hopefully corner. I faxed this request last week & indicated it in on line check in. Both requests were granted. We are in Paterre Place.

As a self proclaimed Deluxe snob, I am blown away by this room. It's GORGEOUS! ::yes:: They really did think of every detail. The room is immaculate. And thanks to Venomhatch for the hanging closet organizer tip- we would be lost without it.

Staff has been nice, food court packed last night and this am but I'm sure the rain is skewing that.

Yes, it's raining ALOT. But no wind yet. We are hopeful that tomorrow will be better since it seems to be a fast moving storm. We are lucky that we are here so long that we don't need to be out in it today if we don't want to. We are planning on heading to DTD this afternoon for a movie, shopping & dinner.

I hope the storm passes quickly! For your sake and mine :)

Forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered!!!

I am not a morning person, to say the least lol, so in planning for my trip I know I will not be able to beat the morning crowds at the mill (I think that's what its called never been to por!) so I am hoping to get there after them....

What times tend to be the most crowded and how late is breakfast served in September ????

As for Andrea getting in the way of ppls vacations so sorry and hope it clears up soon. I'm live here in south fl and tropical storms can be quite bothersome especially when trying to enjoy outside activities! Stay dry and play in between the rain bands its what we do down here

I don't know what times are busiest at the food court, but have you considered saving some time and bringing some breakfast items to eat in your room? We usually do this and it saves so much time in the morning. Especially if you are not a morning person! You could get to the parks that much quicker.

No I hadn't I'm so lost when it comes to mornings lol! my plan was to get to the parks by 11 except AK due to the early close. We've only been to WDW one other time as a family and dh seemed to really enjoy having hot fresh breakfast. I'm assuming this is because he doesn't get it at home!:rolleyes1

Hot breakfast is served at the food court until 11am, although some stations (such as the make-your-own yoghurt parfait) finish at 10:30am. See www.portorleans.org/riversidemill.php for menus/times. I suggest planning to eat and then go straight over to the bus stop, rather than going back to your room in between.

In September you should get away fine with the later starts at the parks - I wouldn't like to try it in July and expect to get much done though!

You will find the food court busiest about a half hour before rope drop at MK; EMH's, up until about half hour before park openings.

I always wait to go to the food court right at parks openings, catch a quick breakfast and I catch the bus pretty quickly. I get there maybe an hour after park opening and still manage to have plenty of time.

I'm trying to decide if we want to try AB this trip. My concern is some of those buildings look so far on the map. We will have a car so I'd like easy access to the parking lot but don't want to be to far from OL Man Island and Riverside Mill. What building should I request??

You didn't say what booking category you are in, but buildings 16, 17, and 28 are closest to the preferred and still quite closing to parking. Each building does not offer all the different booking categories, but it is a smattering of them.

I would suggest going over to Andre's site and click onto the maps of those buildings; you will find which rooms constitute which booking categories and that will give you an idea.

Thank u for all of ur breakfast responses, you confirmed what I was hoping to hear...that we should be good if we eat somewhere between 9:30-10:30, yay I can rest easy now cause mornings stress me out :rotfl2:

For example soooo off topic but I stepped in a red ant pile while getting the kids in the car this morning! Just bad at mornings so a later start and hot breakfast should seemingly fix everything :woohoo:

Also, look up Port Orleans Disney on Google Maps and you can zoom in and get a pretty good idea of how big the resorts are. Pretty helpful.

Good point. Google earth actually has a great birds eye view of POR.

Plus you can use the distance calculator to estimate distance of walking from certain areas to other places at the resort.

I have looked at it many, many times while dreaming about my return trips.

However, Andre's map helps her, because she didn't state what booking category she was in, so it was hard for me to pin down an exact location for her.

16 days out and Im starting to focus on logistical stuff. We are driving in from my Aunt house in Naples, expecting to get to POR at around 11am, checking in then heading to HS.
When we come in is it (assuming so) clear where we can park temp until we get checked in before we head to (hopefully) our room or the park?
Im just getting excited (for me and my kids) and want it to go as seamless as possible.

There should be an attendant to show you where to park when you check in.

HOpe you have a great vacation!

We check in on Sunday :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

i'm just a little bit excited

The parking attendant didn't direct me but there are signs. The entrance to the parking lot for the main building is to the left. I didn't realize until after I parked the car, but there are short-term reserved spots for guests who are checking in near the handicapped spots.

Awesome. I kinda figured there would be something.

Seems like that is what I have been fighting off lately also. Well maybe the lifting spirits of being at Disney World will help boost his immune system. Hope you all have a very magical visit with us!
