Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Two [Thread now FULL and closed]

Question for anyone who can answer. We are going to be at POR in 2 weeks :cheer2: Can't wait. However I do like to work out and I have only just now realized there is no gym facilities here. I do also run/jog but I am thinking it may be very hot to do this. I know many of the deluxe hotels have gyms. Are we allowed to use those? Or no? This is our first time in a mod.

You can use the deluxe resort gyms but there is a fee. You can pay by the day or the week. Or at least you used to be able to.

Quick question for people who have stay here. Our first full day we have an Akershus ADR for breakfast at 8:20. What time should we be lining up for the bus at POR? It's Friday sept 20th if that matters

I'd suggest you go to the bus stop one hour prior to your ADR.

I will search the magic band thread if no one knows, but thought I would try here first.

My DW's parents are coming with us, but are not very internet savvy. If I get their package reservation number, can I add them to my account on MDE and do their magic bands and FP+ for them? I can't imagine them ever doing it themselves (even if I show them how), but I also wouldn't want them to not be able to ride the FP+ rides with us if we have some reserved.

Just got our magic bands today!! The last day to customize was 8/28, they were shipped next day air to arrive by 10:30. Impressed by Disney using the quickest & most expensive shipping rate - maybe that's the reason for the RFID cups :rotf:

So pumped for our stay - 28 days away!!!

Yes, you can do it for them. We have a family member travelling with us (by herself in another room) and she hates the internet. I asked her to sign up for MDE and give me her password. I then added her as a Family & Friend and invited her. I then went into her MDE and accepted and gave myself permission to make changes to her reservation. When I went back onto my MDE, I was able to book all of her FP+ selections with ours. She will even be doing a few different ones and I was able to book those at the same time we are doing ours. It was a lot of clicking but it worked out great.

That is exactly what I did for my parents. So far it is working like a charm. Hopefully everything is ready if and when we get the MBs.

Yes you can. I made the mistake at first of making my parents their own accounts, but didn't like switching between them, so the powers that be at Disney tech support were able to unlink their reservations and put them entirely into my account so I have complete control. They too do not use tech as much, plus while on vacation I will have my iPhone to make any changes.

Hi I saw your post and I am also visiting WDW with my children and we have my dad and his GF coming along with us. My dad is not intnet savy so I asked for his login for Disney.com and did the MDE for him. I customized his magic bands and even had to call Disney about his account. Be mindful there are a few bugs with MDE but Tech support was really helpful.

The only thing I am having them do themselves is online check in. But I am sure I will get phone call lol. HAPPY TRIP PLANNING :cool1:

What's the overall opinion on POR? Yay or nay? Especially if one is used to the value resorts?? Thx :)

Having stayed at value, moderate & deluxe I don't think I will stay anywhere else but POR. Well maybe the Poly some day...lol But I give it a big YAY vote.

We just booked our 3rd stay in an Alligator Bayou room for 6 nights in March (we will be offsite for 4 nights first). We have really enjoyed this resort aside from a few frustrations with buses in the a.m. We used the North Depot before. We are rope drop people. Would it be better to just use the main bus stop or the West Depot?

Which buildings would be good to request for relative closeness to the main building and bus stop? We do not have a preferred room.

I was wondering how the RFID drink system was going? Any one there now? I will be checking in on Monday :)

Depends on what your frustrations were. The buses do call at all the stops, but whether you get seats or not can depend on whether you board at one of the early stops rather than the last one. For MK that would mean the outer stops might be better, for other locations try the South Depot. But it is far from a science, and remember that when a bus gets full it might skip the later stops and they'll send another one to pick up where that one left off.

Just request a room close to the main building & South bus stop, probably better than aiming for a specific building.

I've never done online check in and I'm a little confused about it. Can I do online check in and then fax some requests for my room? Or am I better off making the fax four days before my arrival and just doing standard check in?

I'll be in London for a couple of days over the weekend, so will probably update the menus on the site next week.

I've now updated www.portorleans.org/riversidemill.php with the latest menu info for the Riverside Mill, including the price changes (quite a few things went up by an odd few cents - for example some $6.79 items may have gone up to $6.99, etc). I think all Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner menu changes are covered, but there was still one menu I wanted to double check. Many thanks to Amanda999 for the photos!

Having a nice time in London by the way, I nearly ended up getting the train from Kings Cross to Hogwarts...
