Wow it seems like the perfect day for the pool can't wait to get there -one more hour! Loving this weather!

So I just returned from a week long trip to POR and although there were some hiccups in the beginning but it all worked out into a magical vacation. We requested bldg 18 or 25 (and I know it's just a request but we had lots to do and wanted to be close to the south depot and main lobby!) anyways we got bldg 26, second floor in the back. Doesn't seem far on a map but circling around the twists and turns made it about a 10 minute walk and those stairs are dreadful after a long day at the parks!!!

We also had no fridge (expected) so we used our ice bucket to keep our waters cold and had called to get put on the fridge list. They got us one by the second night and gave us a $15 credit for the first. The fridge already had ice surrounding the whole interior and the temperature knob was broken not a big deal we just drank some of the water out put it in the fridge to freeze and then poured the room temp water over that when ready to drink LOL! Now the only problem we saw was if we left a water bottle sit out it would magically disappear when we returned to the room and they were still half full!!!! We had to hide them I guess mouse keeping are TOO good at their job :-)

Also, to ease suspicions (mostly mine) the breakfast flatbread is a flatbread with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese and potatoes and was BY FAR my favorite breakfast besides those addicting Mickey waffles I highly recommend

We had no bed spread (expected) and it was literally a sheet, a fleece blanket and one more sheet. Id love to say it kept me warm with the AC set at 69 and the fan on but i wore a sweatshirt and sweatpants to bed :P

We also took a cab from POR to the contemporary one morning and Polynesian another and both times including tax were about $16 with tip!!!! And took literally less than 15 minutes!

All in all it was a super trip, the busses were typically okay but not anything to write home about, a 15 minute wait was the average and by the time all the handicappers and strollers got on it was usually standing room only (worked my core!!)

Let me know if there's anything else I can answer and ill try my best!

I guess we'll be at POR at the same time. We're in Buffalo and this is the last post before I go to bed. Up at 5:30, shuttle at 6:00, plane at 8:00, DME around 10:30 and POR hopefully before 12:00. :cheer2:

Thank you all for all your tips and comments and questions and answers! :thumbsup2

:tinker: Poussière de fée!

One day down and our stay has been great so far! Got all of our requests (except fridge) - we are in building 38 which is actually wonderful with a river view. We requested a fridge for medication but we drove so have a cooler so not that big of a deal but we will try to request one again today. Thanks venom hatch and Andre for tips on room requests!

The highlight so far has been meeting Tiana and Louie (the gator) - it made my little girls day- surprising to me was she couldn't wait to get her hands on that gator and gave him a BIG hug!

The resort is beautiful and I have enjoyed walking around. The bedding is ok however I do cover up with the extra blanket as it does get cold at night. We can't hear other guests in their room but it is very loud when they walk by- not sure if this is partly because we have a corner room - but it was loud enough to wake me up last night at 1:00 in the morning- I think a lot of people went to the Halloween party. We are headed thee tonight. Haven't taken buses yet but will try to post with an update when we do.
Hope everyone has a magical day :)

Tiana and Louie were at POR? How cool! I had no idea they made appearances there!

ny3boys, I took care of you and PMed you back some Magic! Keep me advised.

Hello DISers - just back from Riverside - our first stay there. Here are my thoughts / observations:

1. The hotel grounds are very nice. The rooms a bit small but nice.

2. Weather was terrific - best DIS weather we've ever experienced - high 70s/low 80s, sweatshirt at night. No rain. What a great time of year there.

3. I think the "secret" is out about Riverside - i.e. that it's the "Best Moderate" to stay at. The hotel was packed - one CM told us it was "at capacity".
I really liked the hotel - I disliked the crowds at the food court and bus lines.

The food court has multiple "stations" and every morning (8am ish) and evening (8pm ish) each "station" had a line 15 people deep. For as large as the eating area was, it was hard to find seats a few times. But more importantly to me, I need the hotel to be a place to get away from lines and waits - and I don't have an extra 30 minutes in the morning to wait in line for breakfast.

So, while I do think Riverside was a nice place and I do understand why people like it - I just don't know that I'll stay there again. I realize that any hotel could fill to capacity and have lines, maybe I just hit Riverside on the wrong days.
But most people I talk to have heard that Riverside is the best moderate and I think that reputation alone will keep the crowds coming.

Good Morning! I'm a long-time lurker, but just had to say hello and thanks to everyone for their tips, comments, etc. on POR. We are leaving a week from today to run the Wine and Dine Half, and then will spend a week celebrating our anniversay (and Disneymoon we celebrated at POR 4 years ago!!). We are super excited to be heading back to our favorite place. Have a magical Friday and weekend, everyone!!

dansdad - thanks so much for the information and link. Hope to have time this weekend to start researching rooms and ADRs.

I know it is somewhere in this thread, but I just saw a WDW commercial while streaming a tv show and it showed the new white bedding with a bed scarf when the happy family was in their room. I hope they have them when we arrive in Jan, not just the plain.
