dansdad - thanks so much for the information and link. Hope to have time this weekend to start researching rooms and ADRs.

You're welcome. Andre's POR/POFQ site that I linked is full of awesome, and very useful, information. Have fun planning, it's kinda my favorite part.

The food court has multiple "stations" and every morning (8am ish) and evening (8pm ish) each "station" had a line 15 people deep. For as large as the eating area was, it was hard to find seats a few times.

I'm wondering how early we should plan to be at breakfast in the resort to beat the crowds. Would 7:30 be pretty safe?

LOL! Most days, we plan to eat breakfast in our room and be on the bus by 7:30am!

I know most people on the boards are Rope Drop types. I was curious more about the level of busyness for QS for breakfast at the resort. We'd like to eat there one day and wondered how early we should plan if we want to avoid really long lines. Thanks.

I just wanted to checkin and let everyone know how wonderful Riverside is. I positively love the AB side and the Magnolia Yerrace side is much prettier than I thought it would be. I just came from eating lunch at the Poly at Kona. I think POR is so much prettier. The Poly really did feel very Brady Bunch vacation to me.

we were in the food court around 8 on two days and it was busy but managable both days.

We went to the far corner where they do the omelets but if you're just getting a breakfast platter or biscuits and gravy or a kids breakfast they send you around to the front of the line as these are scoop and serve platters.

The only really long line was at the window where they did the waffles.

everything else was short or at least moving fast.

just an educated guess, but it would be better to get there at 7 - 7:30.

8am - 9am seemed to be "peak" crowd time.
6 to 8pm peak for dinner.

maybe the hotel won't be at capacity when you are there, and you'll have a better experience than I did.

I assume if you beat the breakfast line, you'll also beat the bus line. Our buses were crowded. Sometimes standing room only leaving POR. Sometimes waiting for a second bus returning (and waiting for the next bus was actually better, you had a less crowded ride home).
The other hotels just didn't have the bus lines ours did, but to their credit the wait times for buses was never bad (less than 15 mins).

2 times we took a cab in the morning - best $15 (x2) I spent in WDW.

Good Luck.
The grounds/pool/rooms are just fine. But if it's crowded, you'll need to Fastpass your meals!

In exactly 1 week we will be headed to the airport! Then 2 more days until we arrive at POR!

Tiana and Louie were at POR? How cool! I had no idea they made appearances there!

It's not a regular thing I'm afraid, characters make appearances on special activity days such as Halloween, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve/Day, etc. It will be listed in the Activities Schedule in advance.

We will be in checking tomorrow at POR it's our 1st stay there and we are excited! I requested a room in AB after reading there wasn't much room for clothing due to the trundle bed I purchased a hanging closet organizer. We are only taking carry ons and it takes up a lot of space and heavier than I expected. We are 3 adults I can pack extra hangers but would like to know how much drawer space there is if any? I would rather not live out of a suitcase for a week but don't have a problem leaving some things in the cases, like pjs socks and undies. Thanks, Linda :)

Just wanted to pop in and send you an update. We had a great day of driving and have settled in for the night about 2 hours from Disney and POR !!!!
We are so excited !!!
Going to sleep in a little awhile and pray for some extra pixie dust to be sprinkled upon us tomorrow.pixiedust:

Very nice. I didn't know tigger could remain so focused, having that attention issue he has. Off topic is that the new Chevy Malibu?

Haha, the Poly has always reminded me of The Brady Bunch go to Hawaii episode!:rotfl:

Have Fun!

If you are only taking limited-size carry-on luggage then the three drawers located under the fold-down murphy bed in the AB rooms should be fine for you. If you need more space for hangable items, just ask Mousekeeping for as many extra clothes hangers as you need, there's no need to take any with you. There are also other spaces such as bedside table, shelf in wash area, shelves by fridge, etc.

Is there room under the beds to store carry on size suitcases?

No, the beds have solid bases so you can't store anything underneath. The floor next to the wash-basins is perfect for bags though, or the shelf above the hanging rail.
