Currently we have two room reservations for Preferred Rooms this fall as part of a bounce back offer. Our dates may change. If so, the only qualifying rooms that are currently available are the royal guest rooms section. I was told by a CM these rooms are about $20 a night more.

Would you rather stay in a preferred room or royal room? If it is the royal room, would building 90 be the best as far as centralized location?

I prefer a preferred room at POR, but I enjoyed the Royal Rooms. We were in building number 95 near the footbridge and it was an excellent location. We were originally in building number 90, but we were moved due to an air conditioning issue.

Stayed several times, only in 90 and love the location.

I would book Royal over Preferred every time.

Thanks, which view do you like best, Standard, River, Garden, or Pool ?

We really enjoyed the Royal Rooms. As far as the room type, it depends on the price difference. When we stayed, a River View RR room was about $25 more per night than a standard. That was not worth it to us. However, I have recently seen it to be only a $5 upcharge per night, and I would pay that simply for location reasons, if not for the view.

Pool view is the best in the RR because it puts you near the foot bridge. With a pool view, you will likely be in 90 but it doesn't really matter when you are near the pool, you are in a convenient location, IMO.

The preferred rooms are better located in general, though. Given the choice, I would book the preferred rooms.

I love the royal rooms and prefer them. Just stayed in one for the second time in November and it was wonderful. I love the decor and theme of the room. Both times I was in building 90 and the location is great. My room was just steps away from the foot bridge and only a 2-3 minute walk to the main building. I like to request building 90 Oak Manor.

I've had standard twice, one at parking lot and one faced the green outer courtyard. I had one river view and it was really nice, 2nd floor corner room but I wouldn't pay alot more for it. Once trip my cousin went too and had pool view room and the location was great. The pool never seems to have more than a few people in it. If I were worried about getting a standard by the parking lot I would probably book garden or river but if only pool were available I would be okay with it. They really are quiet pools.

Personally I do not care for the decor of the Royal Rooms, that being said, many people don't like the Alligator Bayou decor which I love. I also prefer the theming of the Alligator Bayou grounds compared to the Mansions. Either way, you are paying to guarantee the location and therefore the decor. I booked Preferred to get Alligator Bayou rather than for the location. I think either is wonderful, so pick the room that makes you happy when you walk in the door each time :)
