We are heading to WDW April 11 for the umpteenth time. Anyone else ever get frozen on deciding which resort to stay at? The plan to is to stay at Pop Century, but I do like extras one gets at the mods. Well deluxes too, but the budget for this trip is not deluxe sized. :goodvibes

POR was the first mod we stayed at (March 2003), and we have not been back since. DW has often said she'd like a do-over of that stay because that was the trip upon which she and the two kids (very young at the time) took turns getting sick with a stomach bug, which I avoided.

I will officially book the April trip on Friday. Pretty sure I'm going to surprise her and get a room at POR. Hopefully we can get one of those refurbed AB rooms. Our family (me, DW, DD14, and DS12) would not be too impressed with a princess room.

Poly is my favorite of all the resorts we have stayed at. I totally buy into the "70's Hawaiian Vacation" vibe of the place. DW and I stayed there on a "Mom-Dad anniversary" trip a couple years ago. Just superb in every possible way.

A POR room question... How many of the MB rooms are/will be renovated into the princess theme? Is it two whole buildings? I know the princess rooms cost extra so I wouldn't get one anyway. I wouldn't mind staying in an MB mansion, but would hope to get and AB room even if remote from food court.

We will be right behind you, our plane lands at 10 am...so excited. So much to do between now and then, plan on doing a preliminary packing this weekend. I am the mom of 3 boys, all grown now, hope you have a wonderful time with your "pirates":)

Is there any negative to doing the online check in if my single goal is to be in a re-furbished room in AB? We are a family of 5

We do have two reservations - a room only for the first 2 nights, followed by an 8 night, Free Dining reservation.

We arrive before noon via ME, so pretty early in the day - which I hope will help in getting one of the handful of available new AB room on December 9th (hoping the 3rd building will be fiinished by then)

Pros? Cons?

Thanks!

Thanks! When we stayed at POR before we were in Oak Manor and had a water view (comp upgrade). That was a pretty sweet location. Too bad it won't be in the realm of possibility. I remember lots about that room because I spent lots of time there minding sick folks in my family.

I love all the pics I have seen of the AB section too though. The landscaping seems to be our style. Looks like a refurbed room in AB will be the best possible choice for us.

We had almost the exact situation as you. We had a room-only res the first night, then another with FD, and my only request was a refurbed room. I did online check in for both reservations. Then when we got there (around 10:30-11:00 am), I was able to go to the online check in desk and all our "stuff" was waiting for us. I just reiterated that we wanted a refurbished room and to be able to stay in the same room for the second reservation. The CM did a little searching and everything was set! Easy peasy. I think that because we arrived around check out time, that it was easier for the CM to search which rooms were first to have been cleaned and available.
I've heard a lot of people say that there isn't really an advantage to online check in , but it didn't hurt anything, IMO. And in all honesty, I did online check in because I was just plain too excited and couldn't help myself. :lmao:

Have fun!!:wizard:
