We will be arriving at POR (our very first stay here) a week from today!!!!! Here is hoping for a room in the AB section!!!

10 days today we will be arriving, and I can't wait!! :cool1: I haven't been to this resort since it was Dixie Landings!!

Quick question - we didn't book a preferred room, but we asked to be close to the main building. I'd really like to be in the mansions though, and a refurbed room would be great. Is that a possibility though? We're going with 2 other families and I wouldn't mind paying for a bit of an upgrade, but can't make that decision for everyone else. Also, trying to decide if I should do online check in or just wait till we get there. DD and I will be coming in early that morning, our flight arrives at 9:20 at MCO. I thought it might be better to wait and talk to someone in person instead of doing it online.

Oh, thanks for the pool picture. Had somewhat of a rough day and I needed to see that :goodvibes! Hopefully we'll be swimming in that pool by Wednesday night :cool1:.

Been there on those rough days. Glad I could help.

So fun! Great pics! My 10 year old daughter looked over my shoulder at this pic and said Ohhhh!!! I wish we were going now!

We have 6 more months :headache: Thanks for the fun reminders! :rotfl:

Tell your daughter I wish I was there right now too.

Andre, or anyone else "in the know" will they re-fill your mug at the pool bar and at the River Roost Lounge (with Soda , of course:upsidedow) or do you have to hike into the food court? TIA :goodvibes

His show lasts all night until midnight, with a half-hour break around 10pm. I have no idea where the man gets all his energy from, but he could run rings around even the most hyperactive kids!

If you arrive well before the show starts you'll get a good seat/table (it's casual lounge/bar seating) but even if you turn up later you'll still be able to join in at the back, or take up a table as families start to take the little ones to bed.

Andre

Thanks so much for this info, I really hope to get over to see his show in October :goodvibes

No, you have to use the dispensers in the food court. I've never tried to see if they will do it elsewhere around the resort, but they are not supposed to.

Yeah I had to go to food court last year when I was over at the main pool.

I will be arriving at POR in 3 days!!!! Leaving the house in 2 days to start the drive and 2flights to get there! hahaha

I read on another thread that the AC unit at Pop has motion sensors, so it won't click on unless you are in the room, thus making the room warm when you first come in. Are the AC units at POR like this? I can't remember, probably because last time I was there was April so it didn't matter. This time I will be there in September and like my room to be freezing so I'm curious to know!

That would suck if your sleeping and no one moves or it doesn't pick them up. It would be stuffy beyond belief in there while your sleeping.

We just got back yesterday and had the time of our lives! The entire trip we must have been covered in pixedust!

First off we got upgraded to a river view room for no extra charge in the freshly refurbished Acadia House at POR.

Before we went I kept hearing about how bad the busses were at POR. Well let me tell you all but once our bus was the first bus to arrive when we got to a bus stop. It was as if the bus diver saw that Stan Solo was heading to a bus stop and he/she changed their destination just for us.

At every park we nailed the shows and rides with very little to no wait time. The only ride that we had a long wait for was Space Mountain but the queue was so much fun we did not mind the wait.

Every day we did one park or one of the two water parks from rope drop to well after closing (this is not what we planed to do we did plan to go back in the afternoon for a rest and a swim. If fact we never even put one foot in our resort pools). We are Sooooo tired and I have a blister on my little toe that actualy bigger then my toe, but we had a blast and are glad we did our vacation this way.

All in all we had a total ball and already booked our second trip for next year!

That's so great that you had a wonderful time.

I think you'll find that your next trip will be even better because you'll have a better idea of what you're in for and how you want to do it. I think you also tend to slow down a tiny bit (not too much though:lmao:) and take more in.

We've never been "take a break in the afternoon" people either. We usually schedule "resort time" in the morning or evening if we need a slower day. I think a lot of that depends on the age of your kids and of course our own stamina.:rolleyes1

So are you now one of us Disney obsessed nuts?:rotfl:

Thank you I have a busy work schedule for the next few days but hope to figure out how to post pictures by the end of the week. The pictures I took of our room are much the same that have already been posted.

Thank you I'm still on :cloud9:

I've been a Disney nut for as long as I can remember. However, my DD has now drank the water :rotfl:.

I learnt so much from these DIS boards before I left so I had somewhat of an idea what I was in for. I did learn a lot about the airports on this trip (haven't flown since before 9/11) and a few things we will do different.

My DD is 16 and can keep up with me pretty good our pace was a combination of take it all in and get as much done. We would look at details and hidden Mickeys while keeping a good pace. We only used one fast pass because we wanted to see all the stuff in the queues.

No rush please, I know we will be busy once we get back also playing catch up. But I just love things that may not have been captured on other pics. Also I love pics of random yet interesting shots at the resort. Kinda like what KCmike does. But yeah take your time do what you gotta do. Glad to hear you had a great time.

Ohh and i just realized what your avatar was holding. I love the classic mickey ice creams, I have one ever time we are there.
