Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread - Royally Refurbished for 2011

That was my problem! I did chose POR because we will be traveling with 3 DD's November 2012 and picked the Royal Rooms!

I'm currently booked in a Royal Room but it's just me and my boyfriend so I was thinking about switching to a king room. Which brings me back to POFQ or POR. I may wait until I see what the refurbed rooms look like at POR before making a final decision!

I would just think that would be flooded getting on there with all the people standing around to get on buses. Where at least the Riverside there is more than one depot. All the people not knowing much about the depots would go to ones near there buildings go, making it not as hard to get on at south depot (Main Depot).

True but I've heard that sometimes when the buses come to the final couple of stops at POR, it's usually full and just keeps on going. :confused3 I'm sure they're empty during non-peak times but in the morning, who knows?

If it's the amenities you like at POR, I would say stay at POFQ since you like the theming and bus stop idea better. Since they are sister resorts, you are welcome to go over to POR and use their amenities, including pools, at any time. Since you'll be using the amenities less frequently than the buses and the room, that's what I would do! Although for me, I prefer POR's rooms and their bus situation has never been a problem for me.

This is what I was thinking. Like I said above, I'll probably wait until I get a clear picture of what the rooms are going to look like at POR before I make a decision. I really love the refurbed rooms at POFQ. Decisions, decisions!

Checking in here in just 5 days!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Quick question. Is there body wash in the rooms or do I need to bring my own?

Checking in on the 20th too! The rooms will have Mickey soap bars and a 2 in 1 shampoo, no body wash.

Yeah I miss those also, My Miss misses the Epcot Ball Designed butter you get at Epcot. I think they are cool also. But Most of all I am originally from Orlando and I miss it there. Feels like I am home every time I am there visiting.:cloud9:

We are staying at POR for the first time from Sept 4-14. We have stayed at POFQ but have never stayed at Riverside. We paid for a river view and i requested the Alligator Bayou since I like that kind of theming. How likely is it to get a riverview in AB or will they stick us in the mansions? I dont mind the mansions if it's a refurbed room but other than that, I would rather stay in AB. just seeing how likely that would be! anyone have pictures of the riverview from AB and from the mansions? i would like to see them! I'm so excited!!!

Well I just would call and speak to someone directly in the hotel and mention this what you said youd like to stay in that area with river view room. I suggest Building 14 or 18, they are both close to the main building and offer some rooms to that view. 18 is closer to laundry and pool, but 14 is right there maybe 30 feet from the food court, main building, and South Depot Bus station (Main Depot).

I thought that those 2 buildings were preferred? We stayed at CBR last year and we paid for a waterview and we got the waterview in Martinique which is also a preferred building. I was looking at the map and I thought 38 looked like a nice location for a river view espeically if they don't want to put us in a preferred location. my family and I don't mind walking at all (I actually love to walk!), so really, walking is not an issue. Have you stayed in AB and what buildings have you gotten?

YAY! How long are you staying? We should be to POR on the 4th around 10am. Where do you want to stay at POR?
We're there from the 2nd to the 10th. We've stayed in both AB and MB, and really don't have a preference.
One thing I like about MB over AB is the benches in the courtyard area. It's perfect for relaxing with the first coffee of the day, watching the boats on the river, and the rabbits hopping along.
The only wish we have it to be on the inner side of any building, not the outer limits.

Venomhatch - I love your avatar!!!

Thanks soo much, I am a big, BIG, Tron Fan all the way from the original one. But Out of all the characters Stitch is my favorite.

14 Might be, But I thought they were or did make the whole AB section preferred anyways.

From the first page of this thread it states...
Preferred Location guarantees you a room fairly close to the main building and bus stop, located ONLY in Alligator Bayou lodges 14, 15, 18 and 27.
I have a preferred room reserved for next week.

I'm heading to POR one week from today!!! ( I know my ticker says Sports- but I am a resort changer!!) We are only staying one night (my son and I) is there anything we need to make sure we need to do or see?? This is kinda a check-it-out mission. We have some friends that we have been trying to convince to come to Disney but they are very hesitant. I think that this resort will best suit them so I am going to check it all out. Is there something in particular I should eat or do or look at? We for sure will go to the pool but what else should we check out??
