A few times we took the FQ bus back at night because the lines for POR were so long and then walked back to our room. The FQ buses were never full and came more frequently than the POR buses.

That's a good idea! I'll try to remember that.

We stayed in the royal rooms and walked over the bridge to the main bus depot. The buses were very crowded in the AM and coming back at night but they never went to the other depots so there must have been a separate bus for outlying depots. That's a good idea. We'll have a stroller and buggy board so it won't be that big of a deal to walk I don't guess. What about going TO the parks? Do the buses get filled up quickly? Maybe it would be better for us to cross the river and go to the main terminal (how far of a walk is that? I'm spacially challenged, lol :scared:)

Hi everyone! Can bell services get cabs for us? There are a few times i think we'll need to use one so I was just wondering if they come to this resort- thanks!

They sure can! If it's for an early AM ADR, we usually call the night before and tell them what time we need to be picked up. But we have also called in the AM and had one waiting for us withing 10 minutes.

I just had to post to say that I will be there tomorrow!!!!! We are leaving this afternoon when DH gets off (praying by four)! We'll stop somewhere along the way tonight, and tomorrow we will be in our happy place!!! This is our first stay at POR, so we are so excited!!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Have a great time! Safe travels.

So went to Walmart website and did you do Walmart To Go or just Walmart? Would love to ship some Diet Pepsi for DH.

ordered everything from walmart.com, didn't even see the walmart to go until after reading your post
I did try putting in the physical address of the resort and it told me that I had an incorrect address, so I'm not sure that you could even use it :confused3

it appears that they are only currently delivering to certain California areas and Chicagoland areas

Good morning everyone!

We're checking in on Friday and staying a week. I've ordered some supplies (juice, water, shampoo, etc.) and we likely won't end up using everything. If anyone is checking in next week and wants whatever we have leftover, just PM me. We'll exchange emails so we can arrange pickup on the Thursday (the 13th) before we leave. I don't know how much I will check in here once I am on vacation so hence the email exchange.

Cheers!

We are playing around with some options for another trip next summer and while I'd love to stay at another deluxe, not sure our budget is going to allow for it. The only moderate we've stayed at was CSR, and while we did like it there, we'd like to try someplace new and my two teen girls want to stay in the princess themed rooms. So my question to anyone who's stayed in the Royal Guest Rooms (std vw or garden vw), how far of a walk are these rooms from the main building and pool? Not concerned about buses as we would have a rental. TIA.

If you look at the map at the beginning of the thread you can get an idea of where the mansions with Royal Rooms are located in relation to the main buildings and pools. We were in Parterre Place in the center of the building and had a quick and easy walk to the main building, pools, Parterre parking lot, and south depot. Since you will have a car, a standard view most likely put you near the parking lot which will be convenient. The only location that would have the farthest walk is the far side of Parterre closest to French Quarter but even then it only adds maybe a minute or two to the walk. The walk along the river and across the bridge is enjoyable.

Thank you so much! I was looking at the map and while the buildings looked close to me, I'm horrible with maps/directions so I really wanted to hear from someone who actually stayed in that location. Now, I just have to figure out which view to book...while I'm not crazy about a parking lot view, I wonder if the garden view will be much better...decisions, decisions..

We had a standard view last year because it was what my traveling companions could afford. We requested connecting rooms at Acadian House. We got the corner room and the connecting room, but my corner room was facing a garden area.

The great part about it is that we probably saw no more than six people walk by our room in 8 days. Very few cars were parked in the parking area and we were all the way on the end, so no one bothered to walk down that far.

Also, we were at the opposite end of the North Depot, but once you got to the building, we followed the corridor in front of the rooms in the shade.

It turned out to be a wonderful location.

I've seen a few posts referencing a "corner room" in the mansions - are these any larger or have more windows than the regular rooms? Just curious.

I believe that corner rooms have 2 windows but are not larger. I'm sure someone else will confirm.

Confirmed... They are not larger. Just the what would normally be a joined wall now has a window there instead.

Congratulations and Glad to have you coming to POR. Ohh and Love the Puppies in the sig pic!

Thanks! Very excited to be going, it'll be our first time @ POR and it looks and sounds so lovely!

I had a little anxiety for you there for a minute. I thought you booked your vacation for today, intending to book for next year.

Pheeeeewwwww....

:rotfl: I actually did too once this page popped up on my computer! Glad I wasn't the only one:bitelip:;)

Wow, I'm really glad I asked the question here. I just got off the phone with Disney and they made a mistake. When I added a day to our booking in April, it was mistakenly changed from preferred to standard. I still don't know how we ended up with garden on our documents. Now, here's the bad news.

They have no preferred availability during our stay. When I reminded her that we booked this and paid the preferred rate in Nov 2011, she just said "sorry, they may be able to help you when you check in". This feels unacceptable to me. Any advice on where to go from here?

Just wanted to update on this situation. We just returned from our two week stay at POR and there was indeed a preferred room waiting for us when we arrived. Not only that--there were TWO rooms for us?! It took a while to sort out, but our room was ready for us at 10am. We were in building 15 in a beautiful corner room! Although we faced the parking lot, we just had to cross it to the south depot which is so incredibly handy. Even though the last few days leading up to the trip were very stressful with a lot of details going wrong, we had a fantastic time full of pixie dust. We even got to preview Enchanted Tales with Belle on our last day!

Could someone please advise ?

The new pull down beds in the AB area of POR, they are below the flat screen TV and above 3 drawers in the cabinet... I have read for a petite person under 5 foot high.

Our DD is a very petite person - only 95 pounds and 5 foot 1.5 inches.

:confused3Do you think she would still be able to sleep on the POR AB pull down extra bed ?

Also - I have seen a picture of the alligator from the Princess and the Frog movie. :confused3Is the picture lit up with small lights ? :confused3Are the lights always on or can they be turned off ?

Thank you to anyone who knows or has tried the new POR AB pull down bed.;)
