We will be staying in a new AB room in Nov with 2 adults, 4 children ages 15,15,12 and 2. When looking at the pictures there doesn't seem to be a lot of storage space. Anybody that has stayed there recently can you tell me how that worked out for you and any suggestions on how to make the best use of space. Thanks!

We are a family of 2 adults and 3 kids ages 15, 12, and 11. We had no problem with our things at all. I was surprised. We even had an air mattress on the floor along the wall where the table goes. We don't mind leaving our clothes in our suitcases though.

This is what we did....My husband and I had a large suitcase which we kept on the floor under the clothing rack in the sink area. It was very convenient to pull the curtain and get dressed. It was not in the way at all. My daughter used the drawers under the murphy bed and had lots of space. My sons both had medium suitcases and they both fit side by side on the air conditioning unit.

I just made them keep their suitcases neat and everything had to stay folded. Dirty clothes went in a bag on the clothing rack til wash day. Hope this helps!

I can't believe where the time has gone, but five years ago today the very first files were served out from the fledgling www.portorleans.org domain. It wasn't a full site at that point, just a collection of a couple of resort maps and a few pictures I think.

I first registered the actual name on 22 June 2007, and I noticed the timing because I've just this week paid the annual server hosting invoice for the coming year (all donations via the homepage gratefully received... LOL).

The first online post where I referred to anything from the site was on 1 July 2007 (here, on a UK-based site). A proper 'menu-based' site was still a few months away (26 Oct 2007) but I think I shall count 1st July as the site's official birthday for now.

And now, five years later, the site gets around 1.5 million page hits a year. How time flies when you're having fun!

Thanks for everyone's support, and I hope the site has proved informative and useful.

Andre

Congratulations Andre!! I know I've told you this before but our very first trip to Disney I started to explore the web to learn and we wanted to stay one or two nights at a Disney resort and your website convinced me to try POR and the rest is history...I'm a POR groupie! It had to be right at the beginning of your website because we've been 5 times. Thanks for all your efforts!!

Thank you for your input. We are looking forward to the new rooms, the last time we stayed was back in 2007 and we had two less kids with us. Due to our "surprise" baby, our third daughter, we are now a family of five. And my oldest daughter is bringing a friend so I was starting to worry if we would have enough space with two extra people and their stuff. Thanks!

Just read this: The characters in flight balloon service in DTD has been suspended pending an incident in the hong kong ride. Haven't seen exactly what happened yet. But just FYI.

Yeah I just saw this too. Was planning on doing that this trip. Maybe not.

We were in Orlando for 2 weeks so we had a lot of stuff with us and honestly, I was worried about fitting. I was so surprised at how well it went. Our home is a pretty good size and everyone has their own space plus some so I fully expected a lot of complaining and aggravation and it just didn't happen. (in the past we have gotten 2 rooms but I can't justify that anymore). The room is well organized. Have a great time!!

I have a garden view book for next month---- should I request the Mansions area or AB? it is just 2 of us... so DON'T need the AB for room size....

You're right, there is only one elevator in the center :teeth:

Well there is more than one elevator per building, but they are all located side-by-side in the central section of the building.

Can't really tell you that, it's a personal choice - which room styles and general theming do you prefer?

I know this sounds simple but it truly all depends on what you prefer.

When I first saw the pictures of the rooms I did not like the look of AB at all and only wanted to stay in a mansion. This year with the new details in the AB rooms the only request I made was to stay in an AB room. It was not that we did not like the mansion in fact we loved it but we just would like something different this year.

We are also a party of two my DD and I. The rooms are all the same size and AB has twice as many rooms then MB has non Royal rooms.

We have the royal room booked our next visit, but honestly it is your preference, if you like the feel of the Louisiana Bayou, or the Mansion up-class feel. In side they differ with minor touches. But if we stay there on trips after 2013 then Id have to say we would probably end up in AB section, just because we love how it feels like your on the Bayou and the atmosphere just feels so much more welcoming to us. Plus we usually pay for the preferred ones getting us closer to the Main Building.

Hope you have a magical stay no matter what you decide on!

Congrats Andre!!!!!!!!:worship::banana:

It's nice to have a site where one can go to get the up to date info on a resort. We had to postpone this year's trip due to a family medical situation but we are definately staying at POR next year. I am looking forward to it!!

Getting excited about our upcoming stay at POR in the Royal Guest Rooms!

We spent our honeymoon (1997) at POFQ. Our first trip with kids in 2008 we stayed in an AB room in POR (at that point, we had four kids 8, 6, 4, and 2 and it was the best value to fit us all in one room). On our 2010 trip we stayed at ASMo because the kids wanted to (in two rooms with five kids). We all really missed POR, though, so we're headed back August 27-September 2. This time we have six kids, so two RGRs. (Yes, there's a pattern of population growth. :) )

On a side note, this will be my first trip to WDW in 15 years that I'm not pregnant. :rotfl: Can't wait to ride some different rides!

I love reading this thread and LOVE your site, Andre!

I have a few questions about the royal guest rooms. First are they close to the food court and second we will probably have a car and use that so where is the parking lot located in relation to the buildings that the royal guest rooms are in? TIA

The oak building is the closest to the food court with royal rooms in it. Parking is generally behind the buildings.

Just got home tonight, from my first stay at Riverside, and I LOVED IT. It is the most relaxing place you feel totally emerssed (sp?) in the themeing. I stayed in Acadian house, and the walk to the main building and pool was no more than 5 min. if even that and this was at a very leisurely pace. Buses were very good, I only had to stand once and my stop was the north depot. I'm a POR lover now will be back in December with my daughter.

Is POFQ always the first bus pick up for the Port Orleans resorts or are there ever buses going just to POR? ALso, do the POR buses always stop first at the main building & then loop around the resort to the other stops? TIA

So glad you had a nice stay! We are going in December for our first time (maybe I'll see you there :) ) and can't wait. It seems so tranquil :goodvibes
