Thank you, sir. That does help. We are a group of 5 in a room, so I will look at the buildings that are near a parking lot and go from there. I apppreciate it.

I had a little trouble getting them to apply the new discount, CM wasn't aware. Finally got it to go through. I'm booked for a garden view Royal Room, requested upper floor, fountain view, Parterre Place. Thought about upgrading to river view, but I'd rather save a little as we're paying food OOP. POR only had the Royal Rooms listed for the new summer discount. Noticed that and mostly deluxes available. They must not be booking very well due to the higher cost.

do you remember by chance which deluxes? I am concerned we won't be able to get a 5 person alligator Bayou room for our next trip (with a discount) thanks!

Any more pictures of the lobby refurb? Can't wait to see for myself!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk, and AKL-Standard room were 30% and GF, Poly, And Contemporary were 25%. WL was not listed, but sometimes they are included if you call and inquire.

Last week I posted about the new Murphy beds in the refurbed Alligator Bayou rooms. I took a pic of my son on it, because I really hadn't expected him to fit and was pleasantly surprised that he did. Here's the shot:

DS11 is 5'5" and 107lbs and he slept fine on the Murphy bed (albeit for only one night.)
Hope this helps anyone else wondering if their kid is too big for the Murphy bed.
:)

Thank you that helps ALOT!

Hey everyone,

We are absolutely enjoying our stay at POR. I am sad that we have to leave Friday. We are in an Oak Manor room. It's not too bad of a walk to the main building and the east depot is fairly close. The wifi isn't very good though. This is the first time I have been able to get online from our room. The royal rooms are beautiful and I am so glad I decided to book one.

Has anyone requested AB section & not received it? We are only a party of 4, and I understand parties of 5 get priority for those rooms. However the room decor of "the other side of POR" doesn't appeal to us at all. Plus the Murphy bed would be GREAT for our DS's that won't want to share a bed.

I guess if after we requested it we didn't get it, we could always offer to wait till one opened up??

Thanks

Awesome! Glad you're having a good time :)

I just booked our trip. We'll be heading down on Nov. 9 staying until Nov. 18. First time at POR. Can't wait. I know we'll be in AB b/c we have 5 ppl in our room. Question is which bldg should I request? Would like to be close to a bus stop but not too far away from the main bldg. Any suggestions?

Don't forget that the room inventory availability changed this spring. The opening of the two new Royal buildings reduced the regular mansion building room count by 50%. So now there are 512 regular mansion building rooms versus 1,024 Alligator Bayou rooms (actually 1,023 at the moment, but that's a story for another time...).

This means the likelihood of getting AB over the mansions even by random choice is now 2:1 anyway, so your chances are pretty good I'd say. And there really aren't that many families of five to take up all of the AB rooms.

This is what the Unofficial Guide says:
If you want a river view- as for a second story water view room in 27 or 38. Building 14 is convenient to shops, front desk and food, but it's in a high-traffic noisy area. A good compromise is building 18. It is less noisy but close to a satellite swimming pool and the front desk area.

It also says the most peaceful buildings are 26, 25, and 39 but they are distant from the main area.

Then is says to avoid 15,16, 17 and 24 due to traffic noise from Bonnet Creek Parkway.

Hope this helps.. we are wondering the same thing. I wonder if it is worth the extra $25 a night to do a preferred location? We will have a car, does anyone have recommendations for close to the main area and closer to a parking lot (without being on top of one)? thanks!

I would say AB16 GV. Next to quiet pool and equal distance to south and west bus. Not cost of preferred but I found it to be a great location.

A couple of notes:

Technically there are no River View rooms in building 18 (although there are 8 Water View).

Also, I'd forget that comment about traffic noise - it's not a very busy road in the first place, and there are several rows of trees and a parking lot between the road and the buildings anyway.

I'd agree that 16 and 17 are about the best choices in non-preferred locations, and a Garden View there would be great, quite near to the parking lot but avoiding looking out over it.

Thanks I just called and requested bldg 16 or 17. They didn't ask me a reason for the request I'm wondering if I should call back and explain its because of my daughter's mobility issues and the need to be close to the bus stop and the food court. Or should I just wait and do that closer to the trip?

Great points!! Thank you so much!

What would be the best building(s) to request in order to be close to a bus stop? If possible, we would like a refurbished room but being close to the bus stop is the top priority. We really are not too worried about being near the main building since we do not plan to go there very much.

Thanks,
Chris

I've got a quick storage question. Are the beds high enough to put your luggage under them? With 5 in the room and all our stuff I'm wondering if I'm going to have to store the luggage in the car for the week. The place looks awesome and the only down side I see with the rooms is storage for clothes, coolers, etc. The rest of the place looks great and we're excited to be trying something different this trip.

Thanks!!!
