We just got back from 8 wonderful nights at POR!!!

On the path from the pool to our building we noticed they had some markings and by the end of the week we noticed this

I asked a CM that was there on our last day and he said they will be attaching a hammock but they need to give the poles a week to settle in the cement before they can attach it.

Something nice to look forward to when staying here again!

Are there hair dryers in the rooms?

If so, does anyone know the wattage?

Thanks so much!

Does anyone know how early the buses start running to AK? In January Ak opens at 9 and we have an early reservation at Boma. We were going to hop a bus to AK then to AKl.

Normally buses start running a regular service around an hour before park opening, but some buses will be running from 6.30am or so. Not sure how much I'd like to rely on them to get me to an early breakfast reservation though, might be easier to just get a taxi.

We eat a Boma breakfast 1-2 times per trip (our favorite) and it's been hit or miss on using bus transportation to get there from any resort. Half of the time there are no buses at AK (or whatever park you transfer to) to go back to AKL before or at park opening. Once we got lucky and a "suit" came over & drove us to AKL in his car, but the other times a bus did come, we waited so long we were late for Boma. We've started taking a taxi to early breakfast ressies. You might want to consider doing that.

Enjoy Boma!

We booked earlier this week for our first stay at POR. We normally stay at CSR, but we are ready for a change. We booked a king bed room, I am really hoping for The Mansions side

We've been going to Disney every other February since 2007 - and have always stayed at CSR. A lot of the family (we have 8 families in our GG) wanted to switch to another resort, so they've talked me and my SIL in to POR (we were the holdouts;)). I'll miss CSR, but I'm looking forward to the royal rooms we reserved, and exploring a new (to us) resort. :goodvibes

They are those small white dryers that attach to the wall. No idea what voltage. But they are adequate.

I have tons of thick hair and I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those that wasn't useless for me. :p

Hmm. The only problem with a taxi is that there are 5 of us and one needs a carseat :(

Just wanted to pop in and say POR was amazing. The Royal Rooms were just as I imagined and my kids loved it. The food court was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed the make your own pasta and the Cajun chicken sandwich! My kids loved the pizza and almost only ate that exclusively. :) The online check in was great and fast. We got all our buttons and were off to our room in like 15 minutes! Our room was cleaned well and we got a few different towel animals! It was great and I would definitely stay there again! :cheer2:

I haven't read the whole thread, but maybe someone could help me figure out what to request for a room. We're going in January, staying in AB, booked garden view, 2 adults and 4 kids. Our 9 year old has special needs and doesn't do well on the stairs, so we would prefer (but don't have to have) a room on the 1st floor. We will have a car, so I don't know how much we'll use the buses. We'd prefer to not be right next to the stairs. Close to the main building would be nice to grab a quick breakfast in the morning. We're going in January, so I don't think the pool will be a high priority.

Any thoughts?

I would suggest first floor, close to main building. Those were the 2 things you mentioned in your post.

Question for everyone: I'm trying to decide if I'm going to pack shampoo for my trip. I can't remember if the H20 shampoo at the moderates is a shampoo/conditioner combo or just shampoo by itself.

Thanks!

I am confused about the preferred rooms. We would need the alligator bayou rooms to sleep 5, but the preferred rooms say they sleep 4 yet they seem like there are preferred rooms in alligator bayou. Can I get a preferred room for 5?
Also, how cramped are the rooms. Is there enough room for a stroller and luggage? It does not look like a lot storage. Are there connecting rooms?

Thanks!

All Alligator Bayou rooms, this includes preferred ones, sleep five. Yes there is ample room for a stroller and luggage. Storage however there are drawers under the foldout bed, but not enough for five people. However I suggest to bring one of those foldable hanging shelves and hang them in the sink area. Something kind of like this (found at Target):

In our room we got those mini bottles. One of Shampoo and one of conditioner. They have cute mickey ears on the lids. lol I brought many of them home after our 12 day stay since we brought our own hair products with us.

They were substantial hair dryers. I have thick hair and so does DD and they were hot and powerful on high. FWIW
