Definately a CM who has not had enough training.

Sadly, sometimes we know more on the disboards then the CM's working the phones.

I actually said to a CM about how I got most of my info on disboards and he actually said "Well I'm an actual employee so I think I know more than any internet message board" So I asked him if he's ever been to POR and he said no....I rest my case lol.

Just booked a royal room for November! My parents AND my inlaws are also coming and we're all going to be at POR. (in seperate rooms). My dad hasn't stayed on Disney property since we stayed at the Poly in 1983. I'm REALLY hoping he likes Riverside....

This isn't my first trip to POR, but we have a ton of "firsts" for this trip:

-first time we're traveling with the in-laws.
-first time we're going with kids!
-first trip for DS1 (3.5) and DS2 (16 months - yes, we are crazy)
-first time my mom and dad have stayed on property in nearly 30 years
-first time my dad has been back to MK and EPCOT since 1986
-First time dad has been to DHS.

So, since it will be a new experience for us, what do the experts on the DIS recommend as "must dos" at POR? Esp. for the kiddos (and the adult newbie)...

Try to spend some big blocks of time at the resort - its beautiful and with the ages of your kids, you'll need it. The boat ride to DTD is nice - an attraction in itself. Your 3 yr old will probably like the playground and the fishing (I guess they still do that?).

Almost time! :cheer2: I'm all packed except for toiletries. I checked in and printed my plane tickets. Now I'm just counting down the hours here at work. :rolleyes1

I'm going to call the resort and reinterate my Magnolia Terrace request. Hopefully all will go well. pixiedust:

Have a great flight and lots of pixie dust that you get in Magnolia Terrace

You all are making me want to pack, but I don't hit the road until three weeks from Friday! :lmao:

hunmcbunny - Holy c*%@ don't pee your pants.

Hoodie - The last time I was at WDW was also 86 and we did it all with small crowds in two days but there was only MK and Epcot. The next time was 2011 and age 62 and boy what a shock with so much to see and do. He will have a ball. Go for the morning and then spend the afternoon swimming and a nap. He will like the walk around the place, a boat ride to DTD, a swim in the quiet pool or a slide into the main pool on OMI. A trip back to the parks in the evening or a outdoor movie. A ride on the carriage or on the 4 seat bikes. Make sure he takes in the piano show W-S. After all those years the trip at POR was the best. Have fun and don't let him overdo. You can't do it all this trip so don't even try and do a bounce back.

Good luck!

I've seen that movie too many times to remember and I still chuckle during this scene. Harrison Ford is such a great actor and Han is my favorite as well!

Lol seriously, I've seen it waaaaaaay too many times the actual amount would be embarrassing to reveal  Just got my 11yr old daughter into it and she is a huge fan of the originals over the newer ones - yay! Now all I have to do is convince my hubby to take me to the Star Wars week at Disney :rotfl:

8 more days  8 more days  We leave for Disney in 8 more days!! I just about cant stand it!!! When we started the countdown it was like 230!!

Anyone feel like a morning stroll at Riverside? Here's an old favorite picture that my DD(then 11) took in May 2008 - Sunrise at Riverside from Alligator Bayou :goodvibes

This is my first ever DIS post although I've been stalking this thread for awhile now. You are all making me so excited for our trip in October! We have never stayed onsite before and after seeing the royal rooms, I switched our reservation from a CBR pirate themed room. We can't wait and have loved hearing from everyone that has already been or is going this year, so keep up the trip reports and pictures!

Welcome Meesh :cheer2:

Having boards like this really help and give you an outlet .... running up to complete strangers in the street and shouting how many days til your Disney trip just doesn't cut it, but its accepted here :thumbsup2

We're going to the Royal Rooms in Dec, can't wait!!!!!

I know!! And I am working until 11am on the day we leave....I will be DYING at work!!!

 I don't think I could cope! I would probably end up doing something very naughty at work just to distract myself from the pressure of the Disney excitement
