However, I was reading elsewhere that wheelchairs would have to be folded - obviously her motorised chair does not fold up. So will she or won't she be able to board the boat with her chair? Thanks :)

Absolutely, no problem at all. They have ramps for boarding and a special area just behind the pilot with fold-away seats for wheelchair guests to be able to stay in their chair for the whole trip.

So I was reading a review on another site about the Royal Rooms. It had mentioned that the other Royal Mansion building would be completed "by June". Previously, everything that I had read stated they would be done in the middle of April.

We arrive the first week of May... what are the odds they are overbooked?? Would they put you elsewhere in POR and refund the difference?? I'm probably getting way ahead of myself anyway. Just wondering if anyone heard an update on Parterre Place. Thanks!

Don't worry, it's kinda hard to keep track of all the rumours because of the varying dates that have been given out over the last year or so and not knowing how up to date the source for the posting is. June was probably based on the original target period for completing the whole of POR (which is now nearer August). However Parterre Place is currently being refurbished, and as far as I know should be done for Friday 13 April (if that's not a bad omen!).

See www.portorleans.org/rehab.php for the latest info I have - and even then, I'm not at all sure about some of the specific AB dates as I know there must be changes happening based on the three-week delay to the RGRs and the switch from doing building 39 to building 14 just before Xmas.

I am checking in Saturday with DW, DS17, DD14, DS11 and we’re so excited. Since we’re a group of five I think we’ll be in the AB section. From what I understand none of those rooms have been upgraded yet. I’m concerned that the rooms may seem old and worn. Has anyone had any recent experiences?

Not sure where you've heard that, but they were wrong. As it says in the FAQ post at the beginning of this thread, Alligator Bayou buildings 14, 36, 37 and 38 were all fully refurbished before Xmas.

Although there's actually nothing wrong with the old ones to be honest, they still look fine (we had two rooms in building 17 recently and they were perfect), have you put in a request for a refurbished room? If not, I'd suggest you fax the resort over the next couple of days asking them if they could please allocate you to refurbished room. Details are also in the first FAQ post.

Andre

Andre, thank you so much and especially for the photos. I am totally confident now that we will be able to take the boat.

And I appreciate all the fantastic work you do on your website - it is an absolute treasure of information and has made my research so much fun!

Ok we got our Mickey Mail over a month ago. I didnt know it at the time but we didnt get our bright yellow luggage tags....I thought those hologram tags were the ones we needed.

A week later I found we were gonna need more luggage tags so we call Magical Express to get extra tags...they came in the mail a week later and they were those bright yellows ones. Thats when I realized those were the right ones. I called Magical Express and said that we needed a couple more since they only gave us 3 of them.

A few days later we get another Mickey Mail...this one had the 3 bright yellow tags along with a short note saying they forgot to put them in the original Mickey Mail.

This past Monday we got the couple extra yellow tags from Magical Express. So now we have 9 bright yellow tags lol No biggie

We just got home and on our door step was a FedEx envelope and inside was a complete Mickey Mail with vouchers and hologram luggage tags but no yellow tags :lmao:

I'm wonder if we should call Disney about it....which one do we bring the first one or the second one or both :confused3

bump....just wonder if this ever happen to anyone.

Last year my family of four were to go to POR we already had our ME tags. Then at the last minnute my DW and my DD(14) were not able to go. I called Disney to let them know (and to ask for a refund for their tickets). My DD(16) and I went and had a great time. When we got home my DW gave me a letter that came from Disney inside it were more luggage tags only half the amount.

I would think that all the ME tags you now have would be linked to your reservation so it won't matter which ones you use.

I was actually asking about the documents not the tags...sorry for the confusion...I seem to do that alot lol

I just went thru both documents page by page and now know what is the difference between the 2. The first one has our ME docs....the 2nd one doesnt. So I will just bring the 1st one.

Everytime we check in they give us another copy of the documents. Not sure why but they do!

I am officially confused! I booked POR a few months ago. My reservation is for a RGR. I thought I had done some really good research on these rooms and their locations (I am a big planner and details person). So, when I booked, I told my TA to request a room in Oak Manor. She told me that is not possible that the only building with RGRs is Magnolia Terrace. That was OK with me because I thought the buildings were Oak Manor and Parterre Place and I just didn't want Parterre Place. Then, I kept hearing that Magnolia Terrace was not a RGR building. So, I called DW twice, both times they said Magnolia Terrace will be the only RGR building. Has anyone stayed in a RGR? If so, what building were you in?

I'd like clarification on this too ^^^ although I don't see how Andre's maps could be wrong.

I put in a request for RGR Oak Manor and I wasn't told otherwise.

Just done a bit of googling and every site that has reference to the RGRs state that they are in Oak Manor & Parterre .... except Mousesavers and they say Acadian & Magnolia. I'm pretty sure the majority is right :)

I just stayed in RGR in Oak Manor last week, and all the other rooms in that building that I passed and could see into we're also RGRs.

Oh good grief, I do wish they'd get their act together at DRC. I wish someone would send them this (or something similar) to add to their guest information files...

To be honest, everyone is free to believe whatever they like. I know what I believe anyway - and as far as I know it's also what the resort General Manager, Room Allocations Manager and Guest Services Manager believe too. However they could all be wrong too, so please feel free to continue to debate this as much as you wish and I'll sit back and enjoy watching.

3 days from right now I should be pulling up to POR via ME! No RGR for us, but I did request a refurbished room and top floor. Can't wait!!

those CMs just dont have a clue most times....they told me there are no queens in acadian and magnolia terrace lol We did not reserved RGR but every time we call about our rooms they tell us that they have in our requests in order of preference building 90, 14, 15 and 17. Ummmm building 90 is where the RGRs are & we couldnt convince them that lmao. Its gonna be very interesting where we end up

 no debate from me, I didn't think your maps would be wrong, just thought maybe there were RGRs in Magnolia aswell ... which means I would have more choice, which means I would not be able to make up my mind even more

I think people get confused when it comes to the mansions because the area is called Magnolia Bend and one of the mansions is called Magnolia Terrace. Lots of people drop the word Bend when talking about the area and the word Terrace when talking about that building.

Do you know if motorized scooters fit on the boat?

We are going on our very first trip June 6th-13th 2012. I found on the Portorleans.org site that the preferred rooms(which we have booked) will be in the midst of a remodel during this period. The only completed building will be #14. Does this mean we will definitely get the refurbished #14 or will we be surrounded by construction in one of the other buildings?

If so, how much of an issue do you think this will this be? I have three boys under 9 and can just picture them climbing ladders, knocking over paint cans and all that fun stuff!
The remodeling schedule shows May 15th - June 22nd.
