We are booked in a royal room for the last day of our trip in May. I can't wait to see my girls' reactions to the room! They were gaga over the brochure that we got in the mail. If the monorail passed by POR, then we would have just stayed there our whole trip!

Anyone know how big the new murphy bed is in the Alligator Bayou rooms? It looks small in the open picture. I'm wondering if an almost 7yr old could sleep in it...

it seems like, at least from the few posts i've been reading that people prefer to be in AB 14. Alligator Bayou building 14? Why is that building so sought after? Also do I need a preferred room to be in there or are their garden view/standard rooms in taht building as well? I never really thought to stay in the alligator rooms but the photos have me second guessing myself. Thanks for all the useful info.

If you book preferred room, you will be in one of those four buildings in AB and then you request a view.

Same with RR; you book a RR category and then you request a view.

If you book king bed room, you can request a building or a view.

If you book a view, you will get in any building that is not Preferred, king or RR, and then you can request a level of a view. I.E., for riverview, you could request "riverfront" or upper level view, etc.

THanks that makes sense. I need to change my garden view to a preferred and request riverview it sounds like it. Are there any specific room numbers people request for the AB preferred buidlings?

I've received an email from a resort guest who has just got back after visiting Port Orleans Riverside, and while they were at POR they took an evening stroll over to Oak Manor and reported back the following Royal Room progress update (info as of Friday 24 February):

1. Third floor rooms are near completion with all the decor apparently complete. They just need TVs, bed covers, blankets, pillows and cases.

2. Second floor rooms are further behind. They have carpet on the floor, mattresses in rooms, some furniture like bench seat, chairs, table, chandelier, main light fixture and head boards, plus apparently all bathroom fixtures and furniture.

3. First [Ground] floor rooms have just carpet done on about 65% of the building, with about 35% still getting removal of old decor.

In my opinion not going to be done on time at all - maybe third floor, but that is only how many rooms?

Remember that there is still a couple of weeks before this new section is due to open, and we know from previous work on some of the other buildings that progress is generally pretty quick, so I'm sure that the rooms will be ready by the opening date of 9 March - I very much doubt Disney would let the new date slip!

Apparently many of the window blinds were left open and some lights were on, and there were no 'keep out' warning signs or construction walls like the ones at French Quarter - just a standard Disney "Pardon our Appearance" sign set down in the middle of the pathway.

As it was obvious that there were no guests in residence, and no one asked them not to look, they snapped a couple of quick blurry pictures through the windows. Not sure if I should post them here though after some recent comments - does anyone have any objections before I do? (Note: cast members or construction workers were involved)

Thanks for the update Andre. . .saw the pics on your site too. They look great and I am glad to find out that at least some of the rooms are about done. We check in on the 11th and I can't wait to see our DD's (8) face when she sees the room in person. She has no idea we are even going to WDW and did not know the rooms existed until she saw the "My House Goes Disney" show on HGTV on Sunday night. They showed the family on the show in one of the Royal Rooms already as inspiration for their home makeover. It had to be a test room since they are not done obviously, but she saw it and said she really wanted to stay in one of the new rooms someday (little does she know :rolleyes1). She already loves POR and POFQ from our previous stay.

If you specifically want a river view, you'd be better booking River View and requesting building 14. You're less likely to get it the other way around.

We plan to stay at POR for our upcoming Aug. trip. This will be our first time at a moderate, we have always stayed at ASMO.
Am I understanding correctly that all the preferred rooms have queen size beds?
TIA :goodvibes

The beds are 63 inches long I think and are supposed to be for 9 and under so your child will be fine. My 9.5 year old will be on it and I was concerned until getting exact measurements from someone who stayed in the room. I have also seen pictures of kids laying on it and feel better that my daughter will be fine. If you look back within the last 10 pages or so someone put a picture of their 12 or 13 year old on it I think.

By Aug all rooms should have queen beds...except the rooms with one king bed. Maybe we will bump into each other we are staying at POR the last week of Aug.

I'm just curious, will they let adults go down the waterslide at the pool, or is it just for kids? I am a "kid at heart" and would love to try it out. :goodvibes

This will be our first stay at POR, but I would assume that is fine.

DH & I have used the slides at both CSR and CBR.

Not POR related but has anyone eaten at the Beaches N Cream Soda Shop? My friend is thinking we should check it out when we are there....in 30 DAYS!!...and I'm wondering if it is worth it? I see they take no reservations and its small.
