A little vent...

Already had my reservation made online. Called to add another room for my parents. These were my requests:
1) first floor because of wheelchair for my daughter and mother
2) connecting or nearby rooms
3) refurbed rooms
4) a recliner for my mom's room (this was listed as a choice on the special request for people with disabilities - she has heart trouble and can't sleep well lying down, so a recliner would be so helpful)

Well, CM proceeds to tell me...
1) first floor - okay
2) no connecting rooms, but should be nearby - okay
3) the refurbs are bedding only and no AB rooms are done yet, and only 16, 17 and 24 will be done by my arrival on May 20 - I tried to explain to him that this was incorrect, and he insisted that he had info directly from the resort that was updated daily and it was the only info that could be "confirmed" - yes, I know that he is wrong, wrong, wrong
4) he never ever heard of requesting a recliner and said the special request people hadn't either - I told him it was right their on the website, honestly I hadn't heard of it before either, but really it was there.

Taking a deep breath and will call back another time to confirm what requests were actually entered for our reservation.

Question to the board - anyone ever request a recliner before? I'll check over on the disability threads too, but thought I'd ask here.

Thanks for any helpful thoughts...:confused3

PMed you!

We check in on the 3rd!!!! I have tons to do here, in real life but don't want to do any of it! I should start packing!:thumbsup2

Ahhh! We check in on the 4th, and haven't received our Mickey Mail yet! We're driving, so we don't need any ME tags, and I doubt that we've ever used any of the vouchers on previous trips, but I always like to have all the paperwork on hand.

Quick question--we're on the 1 QS/1TS/1snack dining plan, which now includes the refillable mug (previously you had to pay OOP for it). I was told the mug credits would be on our KTTW cards, similar to how a snack credit would be. Mug vouchers aren't being included in the Mickey Mail or anything, are they?

Thanks!

We leave in 2 days and I have my packet. There was no voucher for the mug so it should be attached to the KTTW card like the dining. It was listed in the description of the dining portion.

Thank you both for your advice! We are a family of 4, with dd9 and ds7. I think we'll go with the royal room and pack an air mattress :goodvibes

Yeah good call. We missed our chance to stay in them due to them pushing the dates back to the 9th of march. But ohh well.

Went ahead and checked in today. I know I don't leave until next week but this gives me some peace of mind to have it taken care of.

my father is a smoker and we are staying in the royal guest rooms, was wondering is there a smoking area near by and how far is it? my dad doesnt want to walk far?

Yeah the easiest way is to go out away from the building a bit and you can.

You will be given a map at the check-in desk that indicates smoking areas. You won't know which building and location you will be in until your room is available for occupancy, so there is no way of knowing how far away he will be at that time.

You may want to add to your reservation a request to be close to a smoking area.

You can check out the resort map on the first page; the RR are in Parterre Place and Oak Manor. Parterre Place can have some very remote room locations, so if you want him close to a smoking area, I would definately request it on your reservation.

Does anyone have pics of the new trundle beds? Wondering if they are big enough for my son, he is 11 but kinda tall. Thanks.

From what I have read the trundles are not Recommended for children over the age of 9. they are smaller than the older trundles. personally to me they look like the size of a crib size bed from the pictures. a few pages back someone did measure it. I really do not think that a tall 11yr old will be comfy on it. take a look on Andre's website he has some pics of them. www.portorleans.org
good luck;)

The trundle is not a trundle, but a small murphy that pulls down over a bench. Guidelines say recommended for 9 and under. I believe the measurement was 65 inches or a few inches shorter. I've been paying attention as my 9.5 year old is going to sleep on it. She is average size 9 and it looks like her feet will just fit with her head on a pillow.

I made my reservations yesterday and put down my $200 deposit. How do I know what room I got?

Leslie

Like any other hotel reservation, you won't know exactly what room you get until you arrive at the hotel and pick up your kttw or room key. You can, however, make certain requests if there are specific needs you have, but again, those will just be requests, not guarantees.
