When we buy things at the gift shops in any of the parks...can we have them deliver it to POR so we dont have to carry it around?

I keep learning new things about Disney....kinda overwhelming. Thank god for this board. Thank you again everyone.

DH just had a great idea! I just started a new thread in the dining review board where we will give the Disboards the opportunity to choose what we order and review. We will post video nightly of the reviews and each night post the next nights reservations. We are also totally up for y'all choosing our counter service locations too!

So tonight it's Chef's!

Come join the new thread and pick a plate!

Yes you can, you will be able to pick it up at your resort gift shop, usually the next day. We use that all the time.

Yes you can. You can pick up your purchases at the Port Orleans gift shop any time after 1pm the next day. They'll voicemail your room if you forget.

Last year we were out so late every night that when we got back to the resort the gift shop was closed. On our second last night we went to AK and finely made it back to the POR in time to pick up our purchases turned out just about everything we bought was also avaiable at the POR gift shop:rolleyes:

Can anybody tell me if fridge in room is really cold IE: be ok for milk to be in it.

Ours was fine but my parent's needed replacing. It didn't work. They replaced it within the hour though and they even fixed my stroller wheel on the spot. Got to love that Disney service.

The replacement fridge was a different model so perhaps they change them out as they break down? But if it's working it's cold enough for milk. My parents wasn't turned on when they checked in. They turned it on and opened a few hours later to find it hadn't changed temperature. If I remember they had a dial somewhere.

About the milk... since I'm from Canada we buy our milk by the litres (you know that metric thing) and I remember only a small size fit in the door. I was getting my grocery order ready and I can't remember which size milk fits in the door. Anyone know?

It's cold enough for milk. Well the ones we've had have always been, anyway.

A half gallon carton just fits in the door:

Haven't stayed at POR yet, but at POFQ (and I imagine every other resort), if you leave the outside, wooden cabinet door of the fridge compartment open, it seems to stay colder inside.

Here's an odd one... someone has just asked on my forums over at portorleans.org about tipping housekeeping, saying that they had heard on 'another board' that tips were no longer being accepted. Their kids wanted to do fun little tip envelopes with messages etc, so wanted to know if it was true.

Personally I've not heard anything about this, as far as I know housekeeping has always been considered a 'tipping optional' position by Disney, unlike some roles where the rules say that tips must be refused. Has anyone heard anything different recently?

Cant really naviage these boards very well and couldnt find the answer I'm looking for so gonna ask here.

Will POR help us ship packages back home in case we cant fit it all in our luggage?

when making your purchases at gift shops (resorts or theme parks), you can choose to have your purchases shipped to your home address via UPS or FedEx. If this is something you're interested in doing, just inquire when making your purchase, and a cast member will be happy to assist.

If you are staying at a resort with a business center (Boardwalk Inn, Contemporary, Coronado Springs, Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and Swan/Dolphin) you can mail packages there. If you are not staying at one of these resorts, stop by the concierge desk in the lobby of your resort for assistance. Either way, cast members will be happy to assist you in getting your packages mailed home. There is a surcharge to cover the cost of shipping materials as well as the actual shipping cost.

Hope your trip is awesome!

Never heard such a thing, that would require union agreements I imagine for sure and there aren't any happening for a while

Are the coffee pots at POR the pod kind or the regular kind??

They are the regular kind but on the small size. Included with your room is two packages of Cafe Velet coffee one reg (gourmet french roast) and one decaf. It's just like you would find in any other hotel room with the coffee and filter together in one package. I left a note (along with a tip) for mousekeeping our first day at the parks asking for extra coffee to be left in our room and they left me more then enough for our entire stay.
