I booked online, but called today to add a request that our room be a refurbished one, and there were no issues.

The consistency of the information coming out of the Disney Reservations Center has been getting much worse of late. I guess on the Port Orleans front there's a lot of change to take in, but something as simple as adding a request to a booking should be routine (unless it's a travel agent booking). I can't understand why some people are being given a hard time.

Can those of you arriving at the end of February let me know when your receive your travel docs? I know they're not necessary to have, but anything to make me feel like the trip is getting closer, right?

Thanks!! :goodvibes

We're checking in on the 15th and got them on Wednesday...exactly 4 weeks before!

Nice - did they have a refurbished room ready for you at 5am then? Wow!

Just subbed to your trip-report thread too.

Yep we are in a refurbished room! I love this Murphy bed, I am going to set up a photo bucket account to try and post some pics. It's like it was built for my DD9! We won't have park tickets until tomorrow and this room is a "Standard VIew". I have "Garden View" on my reservations starting tomorrow, but I think I'm going to go today and take a downgrade if we can stay in this room. I mean, there is no balcony or patio so it's not like we are having breakfast on the lanai overlooking the parking lot. If I would leave my blinds and curtains open it would matter I suppose, but I wouldn't leave them open on the garden view side either ;)

I'm going resort exploring today and looking forward to it, we have never had a non-park day!

Saw your Youtube vids. Nice watching the kids wake to Disney. What building you in?

The Murphy bed is to small for adult so that makes the rooms 4 adult only where with the trundle you could sleep 5 adults. This may now make a big difference for families like ours that had 5 adults in a room. We will have to go to a third room now with the 9 of us or move to another resort which we would not want to do cause POR is our home. Now POR need rooms for 6.

Congrats!!!

OH MY GOSH, I LOVE YOUR BRUINS PIC! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

THAT IS AWESOME! I am a Bruins fan, even up here in NC. My first hockey game ever was Boston Garden, Loge seats, so I really didn't have a choice in it, know what I mean! :good vibes

Nice vids I just saw them also. "Did she just say, Delighted?" Love that part!

So all the Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace mansion buildings have queen beds now?
We leave march 2nd and I am petrified we are going to get double beds. I cosleep with my 10 moth old so a double bed would be holy hedoublehockeysticks!!!

That new bed is small! Yikes! No way will any of our 5 be able to use that bed. Oh well, air mattress will have to work I guess. 9 weeks today!!! YIPEE!!!

bunkkinsmom, can I see this video? The look on their faces had to be priceless!

nevermind...found the video. OMG that's just priceless! Thanks for sharing!

Just booked our first stay at POR... August 13-24 :yay:

We are a family of 5, but all our previous trips our youngest was under 3 or we brought the grandparents along and got two rooms. Very excited to stay at a moderate without having to pay for two rooms to accomodate our family. :thumbsup2

A couple weeks ago I phoned Disney to pay off our upcoming hotel stay at POR. I asked the CM on the phone to please put in a request for a refurbished room. In a VERY authoritative voice, he said, "all the rooms are finished being refurbished so there's no need to put in a request". I was a little caught off guard, but asked again to put the request in for us anyway. He said he would, but I'm doubting if he really did since he seemed annoyed at the question.

I got a similar CM a few trips ago. I wanted to request a 1st floor room at CSR because we had two strollers. He was very adamant that ALL Disney resorts have elevators in ALL buildings. I knew that wasn't true, but I tried to be nice and said, "Well, I would just like to add the request just in case". He continued to be annoyed with me the whole conversation and repeated multiple times that it really wasn't necessary since there are obviously elevators everywhere. :guilty:

A little hope for all of you wanting refurbished rooms....
I did not request this room, we didn't make the reservation until 9:56 pm for a 4:45 am arrival, and we got it without asking at checkin. This was the room they assigned, and of course thanks to all of the info here, when the CM said the building number I knew!! :lovestruc

We are planning a trip Nov 10- Nov 17 :cool1:. We have only stayed at Akl and WL. I am so excited to stay at Por after reading so much on this thread. We were thinking of booking a preferred room. What would the view be? Can you get a garden or river view in the preferred location? TIA! Also how does the main pool compare to Akl and WL (slide, etc).

Check out www.portorleans.org. It has lots of info and pictures too. There's also a resort map to give you an idea of where things are. Dont quote me since I'm a newbie but I believe preferred room means you are close to the main building or the pool.

We are beyond excited too and this thread is awesome.
