Anyone know the actual dimensions of the new murphey bed in the refurbed AB rooms ?

Hey Venomhatch I bought the same luggage only in red for our trip last year.

A reminder to you and anyone else that's flying take advantage of of the luggage scales before you get on the ME. Last year we were over by a few pounds and had to move some items for our suitcase to our carry on to avoid the $100 fine from the airline.

The CMs at POR knew how much we were permitted and how much the fine would be for our airline. I was quite impressed that they knew this information from off the top of their head.

I must have missed something, what US Gov't potential actions?

I don't want to start a discussion here, but basically there are two bills being sponsored by the MPAA, RIAA and other large media/entertainment companies which are massively draconian in allowing them to enforce censorship of the internet, all in the name of protecting their vested interests.

The overall idea of blocking overseas commercial piracy online is a good one, but the proposed implementation is dangerously flawed and does not contain enough understanding of how the internet works or safeguards to retain free speech and innovation on the net. For example it could require Google and other search engines to censor search results, and for domain names to be blocked at their request. Isn't that exactly what China is criticised for, do you want the USA to go down the same path?

Massive protests yesterday from organisations as big as Wikipedia, Google, Facebook, Craigslist and many others saw websites go 'dark' for the day in protest, partly to give users a foretaste of what the legislation could technically do to the free internet. The results of yesterday's action have so far been amazing: approaching Monday's crucial Senate vote there are now 35 Senators publicly opposing the bill, whereas last week there were 5 (41 solid "no" votes will stall the bills in the Senate).

Yeah we got one, your talking about the hand held thing right and it hold the suitcase in the air? The red ones were nice. If my fiancé hadn't already gotten her pink ones she did, she would have gotten the pink versions of mine.

Crazy -I walked from 17 to POFQ food court for their French pastry (yum) in less than ten minutes so I would think from 35 to POR food court would be less then 5 min. And I am 63!
Just enough to work up that hunger and on the way back work it off, go for a swim, take pictures or head to the bus stop. So where we headed today? (the wife just told me to go out and clean the snow off the walk)

I agree, this is not the place for discussion on this, but I am glad to know about it, I must have missed it in the news.

As I said before, I'm glad it's not a hostile takeover of POR or WDW.

Looking forward to our future trip to WDW in the end of May.

Yeah shouldn't be too bad. We were in 14 last year, and I walked out the door and seemed like I walked right into the food court.

Here is an odd question that I have not seen yet. Are the POR room doors made out of metal? The outdoor side?

The kids are asking. We had a great time decorating or DCL stateroom door with magnets of various Disney and cruise themed items. They were asking if we're doing that for POR. We would be a little bit more restrained than our cruise door but I wanted to know if anyone knew before we started making any.

Can't say for POR but I used some at CBR and Pop so I'd say most likely.

Does anyone know for sure which buildings now have/will have queen beds?

I was looking at the rehabed Alligator Bayou rooms on All Ears and it says full beds

I want to book a preferred room and request building 14, I was really wondering if these rooms had queen beds or not. What about Magnolia Bend, these look like queens. I just want a preferred room in building 14. If these aren't queen beds I think I may request a king bed too. I just want to know before we get there.

As has been discussed at length recently, all of the refurbished rooms at Port Orleans now have queen beds instead of doubles. At the moment, that's 14, 36, 37 and 38 as far as Alligator Bayou goes.

A couple weeks ago I phoned Disney to pay off our upcoming hotel stay at POR. I asked the CM on the phone to please put in a request for a refurbished room. In a VERY authoritative voice, he said, "all the rooms are finished being refurbished so there's no need to put in a request". I was a little caught off guard, but asked again to put the request in for us anyway. He said he would, but I'm doubting if he really did since he seemed annoyed at the question. I haven't put any other requests in, and thought we'd just see what we got (booked a gardenview room). Hopefully we get a nice room (first time staying here). Do you think it's okay to leave it to chance or should we request a building in particular? We'll have a car, so I don't need to be that close to the main building. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread!

When I originally booked out trip I requested a building close to the main lobby and a ground floor room. When I just called the other day to ask a question about something else, I asked about the request I had made and the CM told me there were no requests listed and she refused to add any! I wanted to change my request to queen beds and she flatly said no
I am going to ask again when we call back to pay the trip in full.

My first stay was two weeks ago and we were in Bldg 18 and based on my stay, a walk from Bldg 35 should only take about 8-10 minutes. Maybe longer if you really take your time. Enjoy your stay. We hope to return to POR in April or May.

Ditto, we were in 37 and it was an 8-10 minute walk for me and then a 15-20 minute walk with our 4 year old, number of stops to look for animals Then it is about 10 minutes from POR main bldg to POFQ main bldg.

I know the AB rooms are being refurbished, but are they getting the royal refurbishment too. Or is it just the beds,tv and such?

The pictures of the royal refurb rooms look amazing but we have to stay at the AB because of family size.

Sorry to say, no AB rooms will be royal and no royal rooms will have enough room for 5 (unless one of the 5 is under 3 I believe).

Hey there - I just booked a king room at POR from April 21 - 24th for my birthday! Looking forward to it!

I booked online, but called today to add a request that our room be a refurbished one, and there were no issues - the CM just reminded me it was a request, not a guarantee. Weird that people are getting static over it.

Can those of you arriving at the end of February let me know when your receive your travel docs? I know they're not necessary to have, but anything to make me feel like the trip is getting closer, right?
