Hey are you seeing this over at poly thread, we are being looked at as scum, getting the upgrades we are.

That irks me. I'm not even booked and yet I have followed this thread crossing my fingers for everyone. I am always happy for someone that receives a bit of pixie dust whatever the situation. The thing is, those who are 'complaining' about your good fortune is doing themselves a dis-service as it speaks volumes about the kind of person they are, unfortunately.

What I find funny, prior to all this, they would treat you as an equal. Now you're not. Weird ...

Poconopixie:
I am booked to arrive March 4th and I just got my call this morning.

Great to hear someone got a call this morning!! So, there is still hope that something is going on! :)

Maybe they are just down to one agent making the "final calls"!!

I would hope we will all know one way or another by the end of the day. :)

I am *there* for the campouts! Technically, his bday is at the end of the month, but we always celebrated my daughter's birthday (in January) on our trips, so we just decided to let him celebrate early, let him feel special :thumbsup2

This seems like it would be positive for ALL of us, because if the buildings aren't scheduled to be done before we arrive, then wouldn't we have to be moved? This secrecy is driving me nuts!

Congrats for you poconopixie! :goodvibes If you don't mind me asking, what type of room view did you have? Standard, garden, or river?

I had a River View. The rep said that since I was booked River View I was being offered a comparable view.

that's just sad. Just tell those snobs to "poly up" and focus on their own vacations and not worry about yours.

Where I see that they are upset for their reasons. I am apologizing for thinking they are snobs. But how we all have the right to want the best for our families, so if Disney wants to give us what we want to a limit for a error on their part, we deserve what we were promised with more so in our favor because they promised something and could not follow through with it.

I apologize to the Poly Fans, for when I typed this I was still angry feelin attacked and cornered. So hopefully this will be behind us.

Ahhhhh!!

DH finally got the call this morning (going around the TA). He was told that everything was available for our dates, except BLT & CR (which we knew already). He asked for Poly, they offered garden view. He asked if Lagoon view was available, and the CM said "sure, why not, we'll put that in there". :yay:

The CM also told him that in no way, shape, or form are the rooms going to be available until March 9th, at the earliest. They were apparently still making calls.

MsDeVil, I'm sending you a PM with some info that we rec'd from calling Disney last night.

Hope everyone else that's left gets their pixie dust today! pixiedust: It was so frustrating to wait, and I'm so glad it's over.

I'm so glad for you! I'd appreciate the information. If we are included- which I trust we are- I'm going to ask for Poly lagoon view so we'll have to plan a poolside drink break for all of us who've had to stress about this.

I hope this doesn't get taken down, for not being appropriate, stepping on toes, etc....

But last night when we called Disney, the CM gave us a number for a VM for the team that's handling the changes. We called, left the info and got our call back today. FWIW, I hope it helps people out.

Leave your name, Resv. number, and check-in date.

Sorry if this shouldn't have been posted, just trying to help others out :goodvibes

I've just emailed one of my contacts at the resort for clarification, but as I said before, he previously told me that no rooms would be opening before 9th March.

The latest info I've seen on refurbishment dates are Oak Manor (building 90) from 22-January to 9-March, and Parterre Place (building 95) 11-March to 13-April. Even if some rooms might be ready slightly before then, I really doubt they'd now commit them to guests in advance, just not worth the risk.

I'll let you know what I hear back anyway.

Andre

It was really fun watching where everyone was getting upgraded to and I can't imagine how exciting it is for those that are moving to different resorts. I also understand how incredibly frustrating it would be to have to wait for your expected call. However, when it moved beyond that and into the territory of trying to get the best possible upgrade you can and offering advice on how to bypass the regular system to get it, it started to become much less magical.

Could I respectfully ask that such talk be kept to a minimum out of consideration for everyone else who isn't so incredibly fortunate? I love hearing about pixie dust, but I feel that some of it has moved well beyond that.

To much Pixie dust flying arround!
Let it settle a bit as it is almost two months till those trips of a lifetime.
Disney will either honor your reservation or give you an upgrade. Your not going to be left out on the curb or in Fultons gift shop to fend for yourselves.
It is almost like you want the upgrade and will be unhappy if you have to now take RGR.

POR is the best place to be so take a deep breath, count to 10 and uncross those fingers and everything will be what it should. You did all the hard work when you made the reservation in the first place so don't plan for something that may never happen.

Here's throughing some Pixie dust at you!!!!!

Thanks Andre for all the help.

Some people never get to stay at a Disney resort, not even a value. Staying anywhere on site is magical.

We all hear such wonderful things about the Deluxe resorts and once you've stayed onsite, those resorts become a 'one day ....' wish for a lot of Disney goers.

For all those who were booked into POR RR's, it must have been such a disappointment to hear they were not ready, some of those STILL do not know where they will be staying.

To be upgraded to such fantastic resorts like GF & Poly will be a once in lifetime opportunity for some so if they have the balls to push the boundaries a bit further, fair play to them because a chance like this may never come along again. And if they want to shout from the roof tops about this shower of pixie dust bestowed of them, I'm not gonna be the one to put a dampner on it.

Hihooffwego.....

Um, I'm not exactly sure who you are talking to?

It is almost like you want the upgrade and will be unhappy if you have to now take RGR.

I have not seen anyone post that they will be unhappy if they don't get the upgrade? As for me and my family we have been fortunate enough to stay in the deluxe resorts before, but have not stayed in POR (Royal).... For us I am fine either way. It would be fun to do a GF upgrade because that is the one deluxe we have not stayed in, but I am happy to stay at POR as well because it will be new and exciting.

You can't blame some of us that just want to know one way or another.... Especially for those of us that are super planners and have had our ADR's taken care of for months now. Do I need to change things around or not? If I do, will I still be able to get the ADR's I need? Just some of the questions I have.

I don't see anyone here being "unhappy" just wanting to know and move on.

Either way, I plan on having an awesome Disney trip just around the corner!:banana::banana:

I don't want to argue or have this thread get as mean as the Poly one has, but I can say for myself who hasn't gotten a call yet, I will absolutely not be unhappy if I don't get upgraded to a deluxe! I would love to have the option of a RGR, but the reality is, that isn't something that is an option because of construction issues according to Disney.

What I am unhappy about is the lack of information at this point and the inability to call Disney and get a response. I just want to know one way or the other because if I definitely won't be getting into a RGR (which seems 99.9% certain since I arrive before the construction finishes) and won't be getting an upgrade, so instead will be getting moved to somewhere else at POR, then maybe we'd want to look at other moderates that we would consider instead. We made our original comparisons based on those other moderates to a RGR and POR came out on top for us. If that's out of the possibility and we aren't getting moved elsewhere by Disney, then we'll make a new informed decision and be excited and happy about that choice and look forward to our trip, as we were originally.

But as a first-time (and likely only-time for many, many years to come) visitor to Disney, I was already anxious about a lot of things that were out of my control (lines at the parks during spring break season, ADRs I couldn't get, etc). Making the resort and room choice (by specifically choosing and paying for the RGR) was one thing that was under my control, until suddenly a week ago, when it wasn't anymore.

That's what is upsetting and stressful to my family now. For me personally, it has nothing to do with an upgrade or not (in fact, there are a few things I like about POR even better than the deluxe we would request if we get the call). It's the uncertainty that is driving me completely nuts as a someone who is naturally an obsessive planner.

Now that the dust has somewhat settled, a few thoughts.

I hope these upgrades doesn't mean we will loose some of our POR family?

My first visit to WDW was in the early 80's and we stayed off at the HI. In June the nine of us stayed ten days in 17 AB and loved it and will return in June 2013. My question is what do people see in the Mansions? They seem like hotels/motels where AB feels like a resort!

My daughter who set up the June trip has come four years in a row with DH & DD. This is the fourth different resort and she, in her opinion, feels that there is no need to look any further.

So hi to the rest of our POR family! By the way if you see a 60 something, 6'1", little overweight, male walking with a drop foot and a little thin on top with a big smile from watching the grand kids at one of the parks. That's ME!

 When I'm there in December, I'll look out for you :thumbsup2

Now I get it .... you're a little protective about POR ;) and I like that!

We have chosen POR for our december trip and I cannot wait, it seems beautiful and tranquil, the perfect place to end the day after the magic of the parks.

Good Morning (er) Afternoon Everyone!

We are are expected to be "Welcome Home"ed in one month. We are taking our niece, who will be turning 10 while we are there, on her very first trip to see Mickey, and she is so excited!:banana:

We haven't received any paper work as of yet...any idea when it might come? I was thinking that with all the moving around of folk who were booked for the RGV, that maybe they are behind, but want to check with all you folk who know more about what to expect.

Thank you!

I know that I have been one of those anxious "will they/won't they" upgrade persons, and I'm sorry if that seemed to irritate those in the thread who are here to inquire/learn/talk about POR. :goodvibes It is truly a beautiful resort, and even though we did find out today our news, it's still our intention to visit POR and maybe take in a carriage ride.

Before we got the call, I told my husband that either way (upgrade or not), I would be happy, because let's face it, we'll be in DISNEY! That's the best part of the trip, whether you're in a value, mod, or deluxe. Most of my frustration stems from being an extreme planner, and the fact that our trip actually starts a week before the Disney part due to work committments. Having to plan how to haul 2 weeks of your life around with 2 young children, all while not knowing what's going on with your stay can be frustrating for us Type A people. I appreciate those who had helpful thoughts/information regarding who to contact and sharing the information for all to read. Also appreciated was the pixie dust from those who had no vested interest (Phatoomch & others, I'm looking at you ;)) All that being said, I do apologize for hijacking this thread away from it's original intention.

To those of you still waiting for your upgrade, I hope you get it soon. I agree that the issue is not whether or not you are getting the upgrade, but when are you actually going to hear something. I hope you get a resolution soon!
