Still waiting here too and totally confused as to which deluxe to go with if we get the offer (driving my DH crazy discussing pros/cons of different options). I make up my mind and then read a comment on one of the boards and change my mind entirely again.

I'd just like to stop carrying my phone everywhere with me, including the laundry room and bathroom in case they call in the two seconds I'm away from my home office during the work day. :rotfl2:

@pmaurer74 maybe they are saving the best til last ;). Great news aoffhaus and hang in there Chris! Wow, I actually logged in on my phone to see if there were any updates whilst waiting in line to pick up daughter from school - I never do that LOL

I have been doing that too! I even checked the boards right when church started yesterday... I think I was embarrassing my DH!;)

I booked POR for September about 4 months ago. It said, clear as day on the site that I was getting a standard room with TWO QUEEN BEDS. I booked that room.

By August, every room at Port Orleans should have two queen beds (well, except the few King-bed rooms anyway) so please don't worry about your visit in September, you should be fine.

Andre

Phew! Thanks!

Just the thought of a double bed with a 6' 4" husband made my toes curl (and not in a good way).

I am driving my DH and parents nuts too with scenarios! What if this... what if that.... so while we are all waiting.... where do you HOPE to get upgraded to? So, we can drive each other nuts instead of everyone else....

For us this is our list in order of preference:
GF (love the style, monorail, may never afford it)
WL/BC (still undecided on this.. been to WL and consider it "home", love the theme and pool at BC)
YC
AKL (on our list for when the DD's are older... don't think my parents would like it)
Boardwalk (clown pool...'nuf said)
Poly (stayed there last year)
CR (no desire)

so while we are all waiting.... where do you HOPE to get upgraded to? So, we can drive each other nuts instead of everyone else....

This is our very first trip to WDW so we have no experience with any of the options, which makes it really hard.

Polynesian looks like a really nice option and pros, it has the monorail available (which our son would probably be super thrilled with), being able to watch Wishes and the Electric Water Parade from the beach, nice tropical/vacation feel, decent quick service food option for breakfast. Downsides are the volcano slide is going to be way too scary for our son (who's almost 9, but very timid) based on a video that I watched. He doesn't like anything enclosed all the way and really dark like the volcano one is and other con, being there's no hot tub (which is also one of our favorite parts of any swimming excursion). Also, I'm a bit leery of the theming feeling too "tacky" mostly based on a local Polynesian option we've done in Wisconsin Dells which was built around the same time as the WDW Poly, but has not aged well and feels so tacky to me. I know the real WDW option would likely not feel like that from photos and video I've watched though.

Wilderness is probably out because we have Great Wolf Lodge that we frequently visit in Wisconsin Dells a few hours from us and the theming feels a bit too similar, so it's not as exciting to us (although the lobby is beautiful).

GF looks beautiful, but is a little too "fancy" for our tastes especially with a young boy. Seems more like an adult type of theming.

Beach Club/Yacht Club also look very nice and we like the option to walk or boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. But not sure how much time we'll really have for swimming or what the weather will be like in early/mid March either. Plus again, it's a fancy waterpark which we have lots of at Wisconsin Dells and the slide looks too scary for our son at this one too.

So that would leave:

The Polynesian

AKL looks really cool (and I like the feel from pictures better personally than the Poly), but we probably would not get the upgrade to a Savannah room, instead would have a standard view (parking lot, buildings, etc). We booked garden view royal room at POR as it was the only one available at the time. Other downside being that it's more out of the way, especially since we only plan to do one day at AKL and our room wouldn't have a nice view unless we get super lucky at check-in.

Boardwalk Inn - The pool area at this one looks really fun and like something our son would enjoy (the crazy clown slide, animals around the pool, etc). Downsides are really not much for quick service options for breakfasts/fast meals and a bit more adult feel to the resort from the pictures we've seen.

So that's where I'm at now, but again, it changes hourly (ok, every few minutes). I've decided several times on Poly first because it seems sensible and like something everyone keeps recommending and there are some really nice options. Then maybe AKL next because it's interesting to me. But then I throw some of the others back into the mix and go nuts :rotfl:

For us, we'd love to stay at Poly again, since we stayed there on our honeymoon. We also love WL, that's where we usually stay, but we'd like to try something new. My husband actually wants Boardwalk next after Poly, but I totally forgot about the clown pool! :scared1: I think I just found a new reason to call the TA, haha. AKL would be nice, but I hesitate because it's a little farther away. I'm kind of indifferent with YC/BC, but the pool area looks awesome at BC. GF looks beautiful, but I'd feel a little out of place there, like we would have invisible signs saying we were only staying there because Disney upgraded us  CR is nice because of the monorail, but the decor feels so cold to me. More "adult getaway" than "family vacation".

I keep starting to panic that I'm not going to get the call, as only part of my trip is affected. The drama of constant waiting has also caused me to go through countless scenarios with my family, resulting in them wanting the call more than me (so I can finally shut up about it). If given the choice, this is my order:

1.) BC - we have family staying there that week. We were originally going to book there, but were intrigued by the Royal Rooms, especially with our kids.
2.) Poly - always wanted to stay there but never at the top of the list
3.) Boardwalk - My sister goes there every year and loves it
4.) AKL - This places just looks great, but with our young kids, not sure they would get as much out of it
5.) GF - stayed there as a kid when it first opened. Have to agree this is more of an adult hotel, although I would take it.
6.) WL - Seems nice, but would prefer the others
7.) CR - I just don't get the interest. Yes it is close, but it honestly looks like a DC metro stop to me with all that concrete.

The sad part is, I was beyond excited just to be going as of last week. If I don't get an upgrade, am I still going to be as excited? It is Disney and I'm going to love it, but it might not be as magical.

I would be shocked if you don't get a call by the end of this week to mid next week. You said your little one already thinks your staying at the poly? If so then that might be your choice lol. CR I know is off limits to these upgrades anyways. We have never stayed at the poly, but have dreamed about it. So that is our dream, GF just seemed to preppy, to our lil one. She didn't seem to like it when we were there hotel hopping last year.

Keep in mind about the calls, they do technically have until probably your 40-45 day out mark.

Believe it or not, I've stayed at both of those WI Dells resorts, and know exactly what you mean! The Polynesian in WI is very cheesy, but the Poly in Disney BLOWS it away. I wouldn't base your decision on the Poly because of the Polynesian resort. When we stayed in the Dells the first time, we walked around it in about 5 minutes, thinking "This is it?" We also stay at Great Wolf with my whole family, and it's nice, but nothing compared to WL in Disney. I can see what you're saying though, and how it would feel like you've done it already.

If they only gave us the Poly as a choice, then I wouldn't have to keep changing my mind for back-ups! :rotfl:

.... so while we are all waiting.... where do you HOPE to get upgraded to? So, we can drive each other nuts instead of everyone else....

my picks...

1. Poly--loving the tropical theme, staying on the Monorail, as well as, the daybed in addition to the two queens (will keep the peace since no one wants to have to sleep with my son lol)

2. Wilderness Lodge--like the easy access to Magic Kingdom, the theme, and the option of bunk beds (again no one wants to share a bed with the boy)

3. Animal Kingdom Lodge--would LOVE to stay in a Savannah room (but need bunk beds for reasons noted above lol)

I ruled out the Epcot resorts because I live at the Jersey Shore so we have the beachy nautical theme every day and would like something a bit different while on vacation.

This totally! It's too many choices and it's not like the buffet meals I already have ADRs for where you can choose a bit from each area :rotfl:

I know I'll probably go with the Poly if I get a call (and even know which building I would likely request), but the lure of continuing to internet surf for all the other options keeps calling my name. My DH won't even let me talk about it anymore. He just says make the decision and stick with it and then walks away leaving me to go nuts.

Glad to hear all of you are experiencing the same as I am until the call comes. I read the posts and just giggle to myself because I could be saying just about everything all of you are. :cool1:

Oooooh oooooooh what building, :rolleyes1 Don't keep us in suspense. lol Well maybe just me.

Go with Beach Club!!! If you have kids, it's the best pool and I know everyone loves the monorail resorts but look up pics of the boardwalk area. It is just beautiful! Just a walk to Epcot. I am dying to stay there. Anywhooo, just a thought! :)

Since I would only get a garden view, I'm thinking Tokelau because it's pretty central to everything including the GCH, both pools and the TTC.

Nice choice! Yeah if I were only offered GV I would do that one also. maybe perhaps I would lean to Fiji 3rd Floor, just because the GV there on one whole side of the building overlooks the Marina, and it is still considered a GV.

Still waiting for call. Dates 3/5-3/12

Have stayed at Poly,WL,BLT & BWV
Loved them all. So nice being on monorail, but tend to do Epcot in eves and boardwalk was awesome being able to walk to HS,Epcot. Clown pool was refurb so we used BC pool kids loved it.

My kids top picks
BLT
Poly

Funny even though BLT kids favorite they picked the new royal rooms given any choice. I know we will be happy anywhere in Disney!
