What category would I book if I'm interested in a room overlooking the courtyard fountain with a view of the river? Would this be good wording for when I make my reservation? - Oak Manor Upper floor fountain/river view

This schedule is not concrete since they have been a tad bit ahead of schedule. Borrowed from

The following dates include some overlap between buildings, and are obviously always going to be SUBJECT TO CHANGE, so please don't make your wedding plans based on them! I have deliberately not quoted the planned completion dates to avoid anyone getting disappointed.

Magnolia Bend, Acadian House: starts 26 June 2011, for approx. six weeks
Magnolia Bend, Magnolia Terrace: starts 31 July 2011, for approx. six weeks
Alligator Bayou, Lodges 36, 37, 38, 39: starts 25 October 2011, for approx. eight weeks
Magnolia Bend, Oak Manor: starts 15 January 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]
Magnolia Bend, Parterre Place: starts 19 February 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]
Alligator Bayou, Lodges 24, 16, 17, 28: starts 3 April 2012, for approx. eight weeks
Alligator Bayou, Lodges 14, 27, 18, 15: starts 8 May 2012, for approx. seven weeks
Alligator Bayou, Lodges 25, 35, 26, 34: starts 5 June 2012, for approx. eight weeks
The construction work will happen one building at a time, however especially in Alligator Bayou it looks as though work on the next lodge may well commence before the previous one has been fully completed, giving some overlap where two buildings could be out of use at the same time.

I have no idea why the schedule for the two mansion buildings which are due for the 'Royal' treatment (Oak Manor and Parterre Place) is slightly shorter than the other two buildings - you'd have thought they would actually take longer to complete. Time will tell I guess.

If you definitely want a River View, you should book that category to ensure it. 'Water View' would give you a view overlooking some sort of water, which could be the river if you are lucky but could also be the swimming pool (or even a fountain). We're not 100% sure how Garden View will work yet (it only started today) other than it should ensure you don't have a parking lot view.

Your request sounds a good one, but what sort of room category have you currently got booked?

And remember, as I always point out, 'requests' are just that, they are not guarantees. Be nice to the front desk staff and see if they, or their managers, can help you out - let them know you don't mind waiting a few hours for an ideal room to become free, rather than just taking the first one that's ready while you are standing at the desk.

Has anyone had experience ordering from Garden Grocer? We were thinking of having some water and snacks delivered to our room the first day we arrive but had never used a service like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Has anyone stayed in this hotel w a fam of 5? We would have no problem using the trundle, however will there be any space left to walk? We don't wan to spend our vaca squished together, but the kids are too young to have their own room imo. TIA.

I would say Magnolia Building or Arcadia House.

Don't ask for a specific building, just ask for a refurbished room. Gives them more flexibility to find on for you.

Woo Hoo, got my ME paperwork in the mail yesterday!!!! Heading to POR for a long weekend in early Feb!!

I'm going to request a refurbed room. Do you suggest I call and make the request or make the request when I get there? Will it matter if I register online?

Well if you use a TA like AAA or whatever you can attach a request with them as they make the reservation for you. You can always try to call them and see, but like previously mentioned there is no promises. But it cant hurt to try.

We have used Garden Grocer twice and were more than satisfied with their service - very easy to order, items came as ordered, etc. I would highly recommend them
