Well, at leastI know I wasn't doing something wrong.

Can't believe they are sold out already.

Or maybe you are right and a glick??

Royal Rooms were available with Free Dining on the first day it was out but I picked standard at the time. My dates seemed easier to get the room type I wanted than other people's dates for some reason.

We have decided to make the switch from CSR to POR, for end of september/first of october. But of course, as others are saying the website show ALL mods sold out for free dining during this time.
So I called.
They are currently changing the codes for free dining and the CM was not able to make changes to my ressie, therefor he had to put me on hold and wait for himself to be connected to guest services who could do it for him.
He was able to get me a royal room( garden or water view).
I turned him down.....oh my I may end up kicking myself.....
but wanted to let those of you who are trying to book royal rooms, that perhaps a phone call may help.
Now hoping a standard or preferred room become available for my dates

RR's won't be available for promos for a long time. Promos are meant to fill rooms. They aren't going to have any trouble with bookings.

Don't expect to see AoA offer promos for awhile either. You cannot just pick and choose where you want to stay with discounts.

That isn't really true! I know two people (one of which I booked the trip for) that did get a promo with RGR!

The last guests will be leaving the old-style rooms on Saturday I think, after which Parterre Place goes into refurbishment from Sunday for a month.

That's also the last date for availability of the extra roll-away beds by the way, they will be no more after Saturday. I was trying to find the question about them from a week or so back, but the DIS's topic search is still broken.

Andre

Seems like the DIS search is hit and miss! I find I get better results by going to Google and searching the topic Royal Guest Rooms + DISboards.

Still wish I could get one for my upcoming trip--I checked and they are available for all but my last night. I may try calling again, but it doesn't look good.

I originally booked at CBR about a month ago for
May 6 checkin with spring % off special. Later (about 2 wks ago) called and changed to RR and it was actually a few bucks less. They told me I had a pin code. Dont know if I was lucky but I did get a discount on RR.

I was also able to book a RR with a PIN. :cool1:

They offered Royal Rooms on the spring room only offer. I Originally had a standard room booked, but as soon as I saw the Royal Rooms available, I called and switched my reservation. The didn't put it on the website until the middle of February.

The video is definitely in a real POR room, but I'm not sure whether it's the same preview/mockup room that was set up a few months back for the press to see, or a more recent shoot. It looks fairly professional from the camerawork/etc, so I assume it's some sort of press release item from Disney (and I'm betting it'll turn up on the Disney Parks Blog within a day or so).

A direct link to the video playback file is at http://www.viddler.com/player/ff985afd/ if you can't view the blog.

A shortened version of this video is now on the Disney parks blog.

Okay that is it. It is official. I feel like we should all be sitting in the local watering hole, seeing the video come on and cheering like we are at the superbowl.

And it is 1 am and Andre is sleeping in the UK.

I have to tell you, I am an architect and the Aladdin faucets blow me away. The magic carpet is also a nice touch, but I see Maintenance blaring _ ugh.

But the fireworks in the headboard; I have not thought of LED this way. We just use it to save money, not to create an experience.

I am so into this.

The Royal Rooms look so delicate. I wonder how they are going to keep up with wear and tear. I can just imagine a toddler taking a crayon or marker to the heardboard.

According to the Disney Parks blog, all of the POR room renovations are set to be completed by June 2012.

Just got a phone call from friends checking in to POR. They walked into their room only to find another family already there! Went back up front to try again and got upgraded to a RGR. Isn't this the first day for the RGRs?

:lmao:

How cool is that? I don't even think guests are scheduled to stay in those rooms until tomorrow, right? I can't wait to see pictures of the "real" rooms! We are scheduled to be there from June 9th through the 17th

I got a spring promo for my Royal Garden View room in June. My travel agent called one night pricing the room for us and got out rate verbally. When he called back the next night to put our deposit down, the CM told him that "our" room would be either $300 or $400 more. I told him it wasn't worth that ... any room with queen beds would work, but I couldn't justify that much more for those rooms (even though I really wanted one for my 6-year old princess). He said he was going to try to talk to Guest Relations and told them the story. He even suggested they "pull the tapes" to hear his conversation. They ended up giving us the Royal Room for $90 LESS than his original quote!

I guess that was my pixie dust, huh?

I can't wait to see the rooms! Watching the video has me all excited about it!

Actually, the RGR are the ONLY rooms at POR in weeks of calling that are available with the military discount right now (35%). My dates are May/June.

MissyTara, I was looking during Oct., Nov. and Dec. as well and there are no promo's out for that time. Plus I didn't click on a promo to book just the regular book a vacation button. I actually went in to my week (between xmas and new year) to see if they were still available and it didn't come up. I figured, ok, just a busy week. Then checked other random weeks in Dec., Nov. Oct. and obviously, Sept. is FD so it won't be available. I'm wondering if they are totally sold out for the year?? I can't seem to find one available for any dates.

I tried to book a POR regular room, under a PINNED offer, and ALL they have are the royal rooms available. I've been checking for a few weeks for a regular preferred room (trip is in October ), to no avail.

We booked a couple of months ago for late August and it was the same, only the RGR was available with the military discount. I thought it seemed odd. I wasn't even wanting a RGR.
