We went ahead and tipped the driver anyway, even though we didn't pick up our bags. He did delivered us though, right? ;)

Book your tickets for the entire stay on your package. You can pick up your tickets up to three days in advance from Guest Relations at the parks or DTD.

Once you check into POR, go to the concierge desk.

Does it make a difference if I have room-only reservations?

That sounds nice and easy, and it looks like you've probably had a lot of experience due to all of your split stays!! Sending off our luggage when heading to the parks at the start of the day and picking the bags up at POR later in the day sounds so simple! Have you had any problems with the bags not showing up timely at the next resort?
....
We typically express checkout early, take care of the luggage, go to "rope drop" at the park closest to our new resort and head over to the new resort 1:30 ish to avoid check in crowds. If the room is not ready, we'll just explore the new resort ... (they will text you the room # when it's ready).

Note: On resort switching days, we usually take a small backpack with our important items in it with us to the park just in case there is a lugguge mishap ... so far we haven't had any issues with the luggage not showing up but better safe than sorry.
The alternative is to move your luggage yourself via taxi and leave it with bell services at the new resort then head to the parks.

Thank you for all of the great advice! I really appreciate it. :goodvibes

So from tomorrow (OK, technically Sunday, as Parterre Place is still open with the final regular rooms until Saturday) this is the new Port Orleans Riverside...

So if we will be in a waterview RGR in Oak Manor will we be along the side that faces the quiet pool? That's assuming that all the rooms that face the river are now "River View" right?

I would definitly take your luggage with you when doing a split stay. We went from POR to Poly and didn't see our luggage till after 5.

I think you meant to answer another poster? :)

:cheer2::banana:I leave in 20 HOURS for POR at WDW:banana::cheer2:

Van is mostly packed, house is mostly clean, taking a little break until I finish all the packing. Sending DH to bed in an hour so he is well rested for the long haul.

Would that be logical... Go to Say MK with your luggage or did I miss something?

I think maybe she was saying to take the advice to hop in a taxi from Pop to POR and drop off the luggage to be held there until I check in later in the day.

I'm still thinking things over. A royal room is a big draw, but it seems like it could be a bit annoying to take the time to take luggage myself to POR and then go through check in again and then have the rest of my tickets loaded onto my new key card (if I decide to purchase through Disney).

Just to make sure I don't lose the opportunity entirely on the royal room, I did make a room-only ressie for the last 4 nights of my vacation. I have not made any changes yet to my original 10-night room-only at Pop. Just keeping my options open. :teeth:

Have a safe trip and a fun time. Bring back pictures!

I couldn't have said it better myself.... My company is in the process of closing and it's not the best environment around here :sad2: Our last day should be May 1... and I'll be checking into a Royal Room on May 3!

I'm right there with you guys, both in stress levels at work (Busiest time of the year, with extra stresses added this year). We will be checking into RGR May 1! WOO HOO! I've been counting down since about 350 days and we are down to 54.

Hope your kids' DR visits turned out good. Safe travels! Keep us posted if you can.

We are working on the planning of our next trip. We have stayed at CSR, 6 yrs ago, and CBR last year. We are thinking of trying Riverside next.

I have a few questions about the pool....At CBR I hated the pool. I am not one to actually swim with my kids I would rather sit in a chair, enjoy the sun and keep an eye on them. However, at CBR I felt the pool was not at all visable to those in chairs. You literally had to stand at the pool side to see the kids (no chairs in those areas). How is the pool/child visibility at Riverside?

also, is there free wifi at Riverside now?

We shipped a very heavy box down last spring it cost about 8 bucks and we shipped two boxes (one very heavy again) and one not so heavy it was under $20. Dealing with too much luggage is not a fun idea when you have 3 small children (all 3 and under)

WOW! Thats a great price!! What service did you ship with? I only have access to USPS without traveling 20+ miles. A 25 pound box from here with run me almost $20 and thats parcel post.

I am soooo jealous of you. I wanna go right now!! :lmao:
Be safe and try not to kill each other on the ride. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Oh and lots of photos too

Apparently the official cast-member handover of the building will be at 3.30pm on Friday in front of Oak Manor

I've just been told that the handover/dedication at Oak Manor will be a few minutes earlier, at 3:15pm today. It's for the cast-members really, but I'm sure no one will object if a few guests gather around at the back to see what's happening.
