I have booked a standard room...

Where is the best location I could "request" and have success with getting a better room, at very minimum with queen beds, and as close to the main building as possible.

We are going mid August.

By mid August all rooms should be refurbished with queen beds except for the ones with King beds. Unless you have your heart set on Alagator bayou I'd request a room at Mangola Terrace. With a standard view room you would be close to the North bus depot and it's just a short walk threw the mansion then over the bridge to the main building. Andre has a map of the resort on the first page of this thread.

Last August when we went all I requested was to stay in a mansion and we were placed in Acadia house and upgraded to river view at no extra charge. We loved this location.

What dates will you be at POR? We are going the final week on August again.

Exactly 8 weeks from right now - we'll be tucking into our nice cozy bed at POR! Cannot wait! :goodvibes

This will be our first WDW trip, me, DW, DD5, DS2. Just changed my res from POFQ to Royal room at POR for May 6-12. Cost me about $200 more for the upgrade($2730 for 6 nts in royal room, & days PH tix and DDP). Good price? Will it be inconvenient being in larger resort with small kids? What will walk around resort be like from Royal room bldgs(Oak Manor or Parterre I believe)? I am so indecisive. Need some reassurance that I made a good choice or should I go back to FQ?

We just returned from POR. Our only request was a refurbed room. We got Acadian House in a waterview room. The location was AWESOME! Love the new decor, too. POFQ is still our favorite mod , but Riverside is a very clrse second!

Hubster is starting to get annoyed with me lol I went and change alot of our ADRs & which park we are going on which days lol I think we gotta it all figured. Hubster said "Next time I'm hiring a professional Disney Planner because you are seriously driving me nuts honey" :rotfl2:

I was able to apply the Spring Break discount code to my Royal Room booking at the end of April. I had been checking regularly, and this is the first time I had seen the RR (all views) available. So if you have a RR booking, you may want to check the Spring Offer.

Thanks for this! I just checked online and I can get a RR Garden View for less than I had paid for a RR Standard View. So do I just have to call Disney to apply the discount?

Hmm, I'm reading the fine print on my confirmatory e-mail and it says there's a change fee of $50.00 if I change my reservation within 44 days of my trip?

I called and they added.

Sorry, I can't help with the details of changing within the 44 day mark, I think there may be an answer in one of the general threads.

I just got an email today with a pin code that looks like this is the same for us, too! Not much less on the grand total, but considering the upgraded room for about the same price as a standard view, it's sweet!!

I tried searching, but I can't find the post Andre. I know that on page one and throughout, Building 14 is considered a preferred room booking. However, I thought I read that Building 14 is considered river view. Please confirm either way. Thank you kindly.

Building 14 is indeed a Preferred Location. However...

The rooms within building 14 which have king beds are classed as 'King Bed' category, and the rooms within building 14 that overlook the river come under the 'River View' category.

So if you'd like to try for a river view in #14, your best option would be to book River View and request building 14.

That sounds like my house. I have changed at least on ADR a week since I made them.

I will be there in 5 days and I can't stand it! We are finally going to begin packing.:cool1: It is going to be a busy 4 days. I am working on my Masters and this is my final semester full of papers, powerpoints and presentations, etc. etc. I have to complete some stuff before I leave. Ugh!:confused3

Awesome. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ;)

LOL it wasnt like that, I wouldnt risk my job to be with Disney before actually working there. I just got invited to do the AAA special viewing of fireworks and didnt even have a res for it. I just walked up and asked lol.

Yeah no problem on the Panoramic shots. Its funny I walk strait into the room and then start shooting pics and video.

What a fantastic view you have. Keep them coming. So looking forward to seeing more. Have a great trip!!!
