Quick questions thinking about our first stay at Port Orleans..

1. Do they have movies by the pool at night? my kids love this..and as we get closer is there a way to see the likely schedule so I can plan our nights
2. Is their a building we should request - we like near ppol and/or food court
3. Is it worth it to pay a 100 extra bucks for a River view?

THANKS!:banana::worship::banana::worship::cool1::thumbsup2

I have stayed there a few times, Each time we don't get a unit near the food and always regret it... so this time we are requesting near the food. You will use it more often , especially if you get the refillable cup for drinks :) The pool is fun, but no movies. I haven't had the riverview, but you really don't hang out at your resort really... atleast we don't. But if you do leave extra in your vacation for resort day... then maybe it would be beneficial. We like it at PO but truthfully we haven't stayed any where else. it fits our family of five at the right price.

Speaking for Riverside:
1. I am pretty sure that they do not
2. We love the mansions section so I would request Magnolia Terrace (closest mansion to pool) and it is close to bus stop, a little far away from lobby though. You can also choose from Alligator Bayou rooms, not sure whichh one I would request though since we have never stayed in that section before.
3. I wouldn't request a river view, all for us that matters is to be close to the areas that you need to get to. We used to always request views, but now we see that there is no point, especially when staying in a room that you don't even have a balcony. So no I would just request a building, not any kind of special view.

Riverside is a beautiful resort and I am sure you will enjoy it! Good luck planning!:thumbsup2

I just got back from PO - Riverside and they had movies every night in front of Building 90...except for Super Bowl Sunday....on that night, they aired the Super Bowl.

We requested a refurbed room and were in Alligator Bayou, bldg 38. We loved it there. It was considered a Garden View room and was very close to the bridge to the main pool. The walk to the food court wasn't bad at all

We didn't have a view of the river, but it didn't matter really. I think you're better off requesting a refurbed room. You won't regret it

1. There were movies when we were there.
2. Stay in the French Quarter.
3. Water view is either pool (which could be noiser) or by the river (which could be further away from food/bus).

This is our favorite moderate. You'll love it.

We plan on staying at French Quarter section so which building would be good near food court?

We were just there Feb 2-9. YES they have movies by the pool every night with free marshmallows!! The schedule comes out the first of every month for all the pool activities. We have stayed in Alligator bayou 2 times in rooms 1623 and 1622. These rooms are 10 steps to the quite pool and a short walk 3-5 minutes to the main pool and the food! These rooms are considered garden view with a pool view! We will be back again in September. Here is the link to all things Port Orleans!

The movies are actually located in the courtyard area; bring something to sit on.

There are six pools, so you can always request being near a pool. The food court closest buildings are considered preferred and are a booking category. Some of the mansions are close to the main building, but it does take you to the main entrance and you have to walk to the back of the building. But two of those buildings are now RR and are also a booking category.

It is worth the riverview if you are right on the river; if you just barely have a view of it, it is not. It is not like the deluxes that have balconies and have better views of the water.

I would check out the POR thread and look at the map for requesting a location.

Honestly... French Quarter is so small, that all of the buildings are pretty close to the food court. We booked river view our first time, and I probably wouldn't do it again. A riverview room would likely put you further from the bus stop and food court. On our last trip, we were in a standard room in building 4. It was very close to both the food court and the bus stop. If I bothered to make a request, that is probably the building I would choose.

Have fun! You'll love FQ!

Also; remember to pick up a movie schedule for POR so if you do not like the movie showing at POFQ, you can walk or take the boat to POR and watch that movie:)

They definetely do have movies every night. We stayed in the Magnolia Mansion, And by no means is it far from the food area, at all. We were in the rear middle section, ( can't remember room #) but close to main stairs. It's maybe a 7 minute walk. If that. Also Facing the mansion from the river. The movies are set up to the mansions to the right of that one. Can't remember the name of that bldg though. You'll have a grea ttime though it's a fab. resort. Just a lil crowded at the Food court..And a lil busier than others for bus Transportation, but a beautiful resort.

If you are staying at French Quarter I would request bldg 4 if you want to be close to the food court and the bus stop.
