Port Orleans or Animal Kingdom

WE are taking our 7 year old daughter to Disney for her first visit. I'm looking at POR princess theme room or the Animal Kingdom. Which would you choose and why? We are going in January. Thanks!!

I would probably choose POR, because even though I loved our stay at AKL, I want to try all the resorts at some point.

Otherwise, if my budget permitted, I'd pretty much always go with a deluxe.
AKL has more dining options and a very cozy feel to it. Everything is in the same building, so you don't have to worry about rain as much.
They both have all bus transportation, but AKL only shares with AKV, so there are only two stops.
AKL is literally right around the corner from the Animal Kingdom, whereas POR is probably about equidistant to all the parks. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom, you may prefer POR.

If it's not a surprise, ask your daughter. She may have an opinion one way or the other. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I would chose POR. DD may grow out of princesses at some point so do it while she's into it. Animals are cool for any age!

well our favorite moderate is POR so I would say AK but we have stayed at all the deluxes before and moderates. If I was taking a 7 year old girl now would try the new AoA value resort as the reviews coming back on here sound great. heard Royal rooms great as well. Lion King is open and Cars but Little Mermaid not until September.

I think it depends on your daughter. Is she an animal lover or a princess lover? My daughter absolutely loved AKL and would choose that over the princess rooms. If AKL is in your buget, I would go there. You can use both pools and the pool at Kidani (actually the slide is awesome)! But maybe your daughter would prefer the princess theme now and you can do AKL when she is older, like next year. In either case, you can't go wrong!!!

We are staying at POR in October. Just for the Royal room. My daughter will live it.

We just got back from a princess room stay at POR and it was wonderful! My 12 and 11 year old girls LOVED the room and the resort grounds! We have stayed at AKL too and while that is great too, we found our new favorite resort in POR!

The room was full of fun surprises!
