We are going to Disney the end of July and are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter.

Does anyone have anything to say or tips about the POFQ? I have heard that the rooms have a mini fridge. Is this true?

Our major concern is over the shuttle bus that takes you to the different parks. Last time we went it took at least an hour and a half/two hours to get anywhere. I would like to know what you think about renting a car. Would it be a better idea to rent the car or take the shuttle bus?

Thanks for any help you can give! :earsboy:

Over the past 20 years since I've been visiting the Mouse House ::MickeyMo and staying on site, I have never had the need to rent a car unless I had planned an off-site visit somewhere else. The inter-park transportation is adequate and I have never had a wait over 20 minutes. Let's face it, a Disney vacation is usually a fast-paced event. There is so much to do and trying to pack it all in just 7 days or so can be nerve racking. Relax, take it easy, enjoy the "wait" time with your family, and have fun :goodvibes . Disney makes it so convenient so why rent?

Dont hesitate to use the "Search " Function of this forum - this forum alone you can do a search for POR/POFQ or Bus at POFQ ...

You will find so much information, and lots and lots of posts... a lot of it conflicting!! All in all I get a good feeling being at Port Orleans! Only time will tell for sure!! You know if you get dismayed you could rent a vehicle from a Disney resort as well...

Yes there are now mini fridges. Don't forget to take the boat to Downtown Disney, a very relaxing ride and quicker than the bus.

I haven't stayed at POFQ but we have stayed at POR twice. Just an FYI you CAN pool hop between the pool at POFQ and POR since they are "sister" resorts. You can take boat rides between the resorts and to DTD. There is no Table service restaurant at POFQ but there is one at POR and the breakfasts there are fabulous. Also on the "not to miss" list for our family is Bob Jackson the all ages piano man in the POR lounge.
Most people who choose POFQ and/or POR seem quiet happy and pleased, we have loved both of our stays at POR. It was fun to go over to POFQ on Easter for a swim and too see Minnie Mouse in her Easter Sunday dress.

I've stayed at the POFQ four times, and it's my favorite resort. I love the atmosphere of the resort, and the size is a lot more managable than the other moderate resorts. I like staying in building four--it's very convienent to the bus stop and the food court, and just a few minutes to the pool and boat dock.

I have never had a problem with the buses at the POFQ. It's the first stop, so I usually get a seat on the bus.

We were there the end of May and never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus to pick us up. Most of the time we didn't pick up anyone from Riverside we just went on our way. I think only once we made the trip to all stops at Riverside, but still it didn't take that long. We were always the 1st on and off. No need to spend the extra $$ for a car. Enjoy - we loved it there! :flower:
