Hi

Hopefully next week I'll be booking my next Orlando trip with 7 nights IDrive (at a hotel I've stayed in before) and 7 nights at POFQ (first time at a Disney property). I have a few questions though;

1 Does anyone had a review of this resort (or know of any good sites to check)?

2 What are the best rooms/blocks to ask for?

3 Is it worth upgrading to a water view room?

Thanks,

Evelyn

We stayed at this resort in 2004 and loved it. We even liked it better than AKL!! It's a very peaceful resort and is very close to DTD. We stayed in building 3 and it was just a few minutes from the food court and bus stop. I would say there is not a bad location at this resort as it is quite small. To be honest I would not bother upgrading to a water view room. you could request a corner room, they have double windows and are nice and bright :)

Thanks, thats useful to know as we're taking a 4 year old so don't want to be too far from food or the bus stop.

If I can get a corner room rather than paying for a water view room then thats money saved already!

I was considering AKL but heard on this forum that there is construction going on until 2009 so decided against it.

I stayed at POFQ for a week lastyear and it was wonderful, it was very quiet (apart from the constant Jazz playing in the food court!) I would second the choice of a corner room rather than a water room. the pool is lovely and the clam chowder to die for! The only drawback (and its a very small thing) is that the resort is not immediately 'Disney' like, say, all stars, as theres no big icons around or anything, but I loved it, it was very classy and elegant.

we stayed there for our first disney holiday and LOVED IT, it was friendly, clean and reminded me of how i imagine the south is, I would go back in a heartbeat but I got the disbug and bought into DVC the same trip :-)

Stayed @ pofq last summer it was nice, but better than AKL? for me not even close. Everybody is different and we all appreciate different things.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I've made a good choice for my first stay at Disney!

Another quick question though, how do I request a corner room? Do I request this from my travel when booking or call the POFQ a week or so before I leave the UK?

Thanks again,

Evelyn

I could not believe I did not like AKL, I was so looking forward to staying here. I found the hotel very dark, and the staff totally rude. I also thought the location was poor. I don't want to put anyone off, as you say, we all appreciate different things!
;)

Make the request with your travel agent, also ask at check in at the resort

:)

email th eresort yourself about 2 weeks before you go, as a travel agent I know your requests don't usually get passed along through a major tour operator - Thomsons, mytravel, thomas cook, virgin and first choice are terrible at passing them through!

jockey, you are not alone in your thoughts regarding AKL. We loved the place and would love to return, POFQ was good but I would not return, its all about what ticks individuals boxes.

I think all the disney hotels are worth a look around if you can spare the time, you can surprise yourself with them, I too thought I'd love AKL but didn't, I also thought the Contemporary looked awful before I went but I loved it inside.

Excellent, I'm not going until Sept 2008 but will request the corner room on booking and prior to leaving the UK next year.

Everyone has been most helpful, thanks.

We stayed at POFQ last year for 9 nights, we really loved it! The rooms are fantastic. We didn't ask for a water view room mostly because the rooms don't have balconies etc.

Because its not a huge resort I don't think there are any bad buildings at all and nothing is more than a 5 minute walk at most.

The boat to DTD is fantastic :) The pool area is great and the waterslide is lots of fun!

If you want to read some reviews on this board just do a search for 'POFQ' in the Disney Hotel thread. Off this board I use www.tripadvisor.com a lot and it ranks POFQ higher than some of the Deluxe hotels at Disney.

Hope you have a great time Evelyn!

Thanks Eloise! I tried doing a search on Tripadvisor but it brought up american reviews which I don't trust because they seem to expect a lot more than us Brits do!

I also did a search on here for POFQ but it didn't bring anything up so I'll try again in the Disney Hotel thread.
