We got in late last night / early this morning. The resort is lovely!

I'm posting right now using the free wifi. Love having this, as the girls can text their friends back at home on their ipods.

Went to AK this afternoon and it was relatively crowded...but we are used to getting there at rope drop...

Is the free WiFi available throughout the resort including rooms or is it just available at the food court/lobby area? Staying there in Oct. This would be an extra great perk!

What is the address of the nearest WM to POFQ? We changed our original CSR reservation to FQ and are looking forward to our visit in June.

My GPS pulled this one up. It wasn't scary and it was neat and had a Subway.

Here's a question for those in the know:

In January 2009 my parents surprised me with a trip to POFQ, our favorite resort (see my signature!). My Dad was in Orlando on business and so I flew down when they moved to Disney after his meetings were over. I shared a room with them which was a bit of an issue-they are both World Class Snoring Champions. I took my Tylenol PM, wore noise canceling headphones and even put a pillow over my head-alas, by about 3 AM I was wide awake. (Strangely enough, that was midnight for me at home-I think my Disney adrenaline kicked in!)

Not wanting to wake them up (hey, they were the benefactors of my trip, after all) by reading or watching TV, I quietly slipped out of the room in my sweats with a book and my iPod. It was January and freezing! Had it been August when I usually go, I think I'd have been fine sitting by the pool and reading, but since they were having a cold snap (they were covering all the vegetation to protect from the cold that weekend), outside was well, out. I thought I'd go sit in the food court or the lobby, but when I peeked in the doors it looked like both areas were being cleaned and I just didn't want to attract a lot of attention or get in anyone's way.

So, I headed to the laundry room which was warm and actually quite relaxing. The bench was relatively comfortable for a couple of hours of reading until around 6 when I felt safe returning to our room...

So, my question-would I have been out of line going to the lobby at that time of day? I know the cast members have lots to do in the "off hours" and would never want to inconvenience them...thoughts?

Are there refrigerators in the rooms? We are headed there in a couple of weeks and I just wanted to make sure.

Can you (or anyone else) give me an update on the construction? Is it taking away from the resort? Is it really obstructive? :confused3

The construction was so minimal - it did not inconvenience us in any way. We were in building 5.

In POFQ Withdrawl, was there last week and am already missing it. Such a beautiful place. Requested via fax a room in building 4 and got it at check in at noon time, was so impressed by this! Would consider again for future trips, but the food court needs more variety and Disney in whole needs more fruit options!

Same here about being in withdrawal - just got back home last Saturday. POFQ was great - we requested and were in building 5 and were so close to everything. We only ate at the food court 3 or 4 times for the week so i guess variety wasn't an issue for us. Will definitely stay there on our next trip . . . hopefully next year!!! :scratchin

Ahhhhh ... I'm so excited!! We were just at POFQ in December, but I FINALLY received a PIN offer (never have before) and I just couldn't let it go. So we booked again for 12/15 - 12/22/12. At POFQ of course!

I LOVE Disney in December and I love POFQ!!! And I already have my calendar marked for June to make my ADRs. YAY!!!

Just back from a week at POFQ. We were there last week, Building 5, looks like some of you were our neighbors!

Loved this resort. Had never stayed at a moderate before, but this is our go-to if/when we go Moderate again.

We were literally about 20 steps from the pool area, about 30 seconds from the Food Court. Room was nice, food was decent, pool area was fantastic, and plenty to do.

Also loved the convenience of heading down to Riverside for dinner(Boatwrights) and fun(cane pole fishing...that was a blast).

The construction was no big deal. We'd never seen POFQ before, so we didn't know any differently. It was a non-issue.

The beignets are FANTASTIC. The other food was fine, nothing special, but nothing terrible.

Bus service was really good. Only had one issue where two AK buses showed up one right after the other, which was a bit ridiculous. But probably never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus at the resort, and no longer than 15 for any return trips.

Only two negatives:
MOUSEKEEPING....it wasn't that our room was dirty, it's just that it wasn't spit-spot clean every day. And no towel animals, etc. Just very ordinary service in that regard.
GIFT SHOP...it's got plenty of stuff, but only ONE thing in the entire store that's POFQ-specific, and that's a pin. I would have loved to buy a POFQ polo shirt, hat, ANYTHING. But all they had was a pin.

It's a terrific resort. Will definitely stay there again if we choose a moderate.

There hasn't been any Resort specific items for a long time. Finally this year they have a few deluxes that have started stocking a few itmes. According to a CM at one of those Deluxes that posts on the DIS, they brought back merchandise at those resorts because of lots of letters and comments about the lack of merchandise. If a bunch of POFQ guests started mentioning this on comment cards and letters they might do a trial run like they are at the Deluxes.

I LOVE POFQ, but would agree that mousekeeping is only so-so. We did get a towel animal, but only at checkin - not one on any of the remaining 5 nights. And the room was clean, but not fabulous. They forgot to replace soap and shampoo when they were empty, so I had to call that night when bathing my kids to ask them to bring more. That did not happen on our last trip to POFQ, so not sure if it is just we got unlucky.

I would think that would have been absolutely fine, nothing to worry about at all, the lobby never closes as such. OK, so they may have to clean and so forth, but I'm sure they would not have any issues at all with you being there.

Hello. My wife, daughter and myself are heading to POFQ on Sunday for the first time. We have stayed at CB and CSR so we are excited to try a new resort. What are some resort special things to do as a first time guest? Is there any advice you or anyone else can give regarding the resort? We are looking forward to a great 9 days at the World! I'm glad to hear the construction wasn't a eyesore...there is enough construction in the parks! How was bus service? Did you go to POR often? Thanks for all of the advice ahead of time! All of you are so helpful.

Thanks Andre. I had a feeling I was just being a "nervous Nellie" but the laundry room ended up working out okay. This next trip is our first with our son-he'll be two-and I have a feeling insomnia won't be an issue for me. But I'll head to the lobby if it is!

Got back from POR Riverside on Friday and it was wonderful!! We checked in on the 20th anniversary and got all of our requests even down to the room number and an upgrade to a pool view! It was beautiful and I really did not notice any construction going on while we were there. We booked the 30% off bounceback offer for the tower of terror race in September! Im so excited because its the start on Food and Wine and we can do MNSSHP!!!

My family is planning our first WDW trip for Dec. 7 to 16th.....we were booked at the Pop Century.....but decided to make a change to POFQ!!! I'm very excited about the change of resorts.....my dad (who just passed) & I shared a love of Dixieland/Jazz music. My favorite part of Disneyland is New Orlean's Square & now I'll be able to honor my dad, get my Mardi Gras fix & get to experience WDW all in one trip............PRICELESS!!!! :goodvibes

Unique to POFQ is Elliot Dyson, musician. He plays in the area of the bar next to the lobby. Also, you can take the boat or walk to POR and see YeeHaw Bob, a high-energy family show. Or you could do a carriage ride -- you board the carriage at POR and can tour just POR or POR and POFQ (but not just POFQ). 407-PLAY is the number to call to make reservations ($45 on a credit card in advance) for that, or you could just go to the concierge desk in the lobby. POFQ lend itself to sitting and relaxing, especially along the water. Get out there early enough in the morning and watch the birds wake up and maybe even catch the otters in the water. Take the boat to DTD at least once. It is relaxing and you will be able to see the Treehouse Villas along the way. Enjoy your trip.

I'm sure you will be missing your dad but I'm glad you are able to make this trip to a place that will remind you of him. Savor your memories!
